To be honest, I've recieved a few beating in my time and pain was never much of a factor. Blunt trauma tends to be sore (for days), but painful enough to crack someone? I don't think so. I guess none of the beatings were really all that vicious. and all I broke was my nose, but it's not the route I'd go down.
