Note the words "combat" and "combat sport". Of course boxing can be used as self-defence but so can rugby (spear tackles, grapple tackles).

Also, you completely missed my point, I said that cross training in so many styles will not be beneficial to the martial artist in a short period of time, you've been learning in various styles that don't even complement each other: Two completely different ends of the spectrum (kung fu and muay thai) will never be able to go hand in hand.

Secondly, the MMA fighters you listed cross train extensively in complementary styles, so of course they will develop muscle memory to use both sets of techniques correctly.

How many successful MMA fighters train extensively in 7 different fighting styles?
