Yes and no. I'm not to familiar with soaps but I believe older soaps had a fair amount of glycerine in them (glycerine + nitric acid + some other crap = Nitroglycerin). To the novice kitchen scientist it would be a fairly difficult process to complete, especially since there are much easier alternatives.
