not really just be downwind from the animal. I doubt it would smell you unless you got really close.
if someone sneaking up on your while your walking around you can ether, double back and see if anyone stops or changes directions suddenly, run around a corner and wait for them to come, or just start running.
If your in the woods or a nonpublic place heres what you do. Every so often stop and look behind you. You have to stop and look behind you as quick as you can. maybe even start running to the sound of the person following you. If you lucky the person will ether not stop when you do so you can hear them, or get scared and run away if you run after them. Another thing you can do if your in the woods and close to a field. Run into the field suddenly then ether plunge into the woods someone and wait for him to come, Or if a part of the woods branches out into the field. Run behind that then go into the woods. Most likely the person thats following you is going to stay in the woods. This is to your advantage as he is making more noise making over sticks leaves and shit. Watch the field as well as the woods the person could come from ether way.
