Default shoplifting and retail theft 101 - your true knowledge database

Alright first and foremost- just wanted to apologize for the length of time it's taken me to get back to this... as I've been busy with classes and work. The first thing you need to remember with all shop lifting is that the "typical shoplifter" gets caught the most. this is the guy who selects something, wonders around for a bit (not shopping), heads to the fitting room and makes a quick selection immediately before entering the fitting room. then when he leaves the fitting room- the LP heads in and whala! the item that he first selected is no longer there!!! they just caught themselves another shoplifter.

-DON'T DO THE ABOVE-
...unless you like paying restitution and or obtaining a police record.

**KEY POINT**

The shoplifter who does not get caught is one who is efficient. what I mean is that he cuts out all the riff raft waste of time (walking around, fitting room, bathroom, etc) and steals. these two are the most profitable as well. BE IN AND BE OUT!!! once you have selected the stuff you want to steal and depending on how expensive it is (be careful not to be to obvious selecting pricey thing or you will be watched) and once that's done head out of the store and into a car. best method that would P*SS me off when I was doing LP were the grab and runners because they'd be in and out before I could do anything or set up and the cops would show up when the shoplifters would be long gone (im talking 30mins later).

**ANOTHER KEY POINT**

All stores like Macy's, Kohls, Fry's, Best Buy... etc have what I call "Rules for engagement" These are their policies/steps that have to be met in order to be able to stop a shoplifter. Most have 4 or 5, some have 6... some are more loose with following them, and a few have to follow those steps word-for-word- like Fry's Electronics.

Gotta go get ready for class, but more to come in my next posting about the places I've worked LP for and how to get away scotch free as well as places I know will not stop you because they can't. I'll go so far as to discuss what the LP world refers to as a "bad stop" or stopping someone when they don't have the merchandise on them.

btw... bad stops are also profitable- as it's false imprisonment and the retailers will pay a couple of 1000's to clear it up (I've seen a 20k one)
