Im reasonably certain that most places in the US that accept passports as ID use the little scan pads that check the pic, holo, UV, send a copy of the thing to the database wherever that is and read the magnetic strip at the bottom. Its the same ones that are in the airports. We would have them in Canada if we had a reason for it. The only reason a terrorist would blow up his bomb in Canada is premature detonation.
