hello everyone!

as i live in germany, you dont get any good cider, just the shitty sweet french one.

now, i have some questions. the press is probably the hardest to get. how would one go about it, and is there any household thing you can use instead?

also, i thought of a clever idea. once you have your pressed apple juice, you dont want it to oxidize, right? so the idea was if you put it into a bucket, and placed a light, non reactive liquid on top, because its lighter than the cider, it would swim on top, and wouldnt mix. the fermenting gives off some gasses, which can pass through the light liquid, but the oxygen cant penetrate it, so the cider stays oxygen free. i dont know what liquid to use though.

thanks, will.

Ok WTF! Sorry for the language but really why try and even advertise here all you get is a bunch of people annoyed. Whatever. Ok you can make good cider by squishing the apples and draining the stuff. I'd sudgest if you want to make only a little as in like a gallon you can blend apple chunks then smash the chunks. You then drain the pulp through a screen and just let it ferment. My dad made some but ruined it by fermenting it too long. He left it out in our garage too long. Well long story short there WAS a gallon of cider after it fermented we had 9 pounds of mold spread over a 4 ft aria

I cant imagine that there is a liquid that can be simply poured over another liquid to create an anaerobic environment. I think it would have to be a non-Newtonian fluid...

Its better just to buy the filter that has all the filtering and gas exchange needs in a wine making store. I passed by three such stores on my way back from work. The filters and bucket will probably be less than 25$. To make enough alcohol for maybe 5 people. The filter should fit tight lid beverage containers. But really, you could make it fit anything if you cut the spout off anything. I'd use 5 gallon drums If I were you. Or the water containers with the cute little easy pour spout they sell for camping and whatnot. The Filter could be added with silicon caulk and a ghetto adapter. You should be able to buy everything in standard sizes.
