The hard feelings originate in the other forums. Considering the general nature of BombShock, it'll always be that way too. I don't think there is anyway to "eliminate" hard feelings... or even get people to leave it at the door... The general anonimity of the users pretty much gaurantees that many, if not most, won't act in a civil manner because it pleases them not too.

If this forum (B&M) goes or not, I think it's of little consequence either way.

As regards the CD scam, the frustrating this is that it was really, genuinely the truth. I know it's worthless but hand on my heart, swear to whatever I hold dear, that it was the truth. Mac made a fair point about needing to be right all the time. I've conceded points in debates where I've been persuaded. But like I've said, it's been how long you've been trying to stir shit now? Quite a while anyway, there's hasn't been a single valid criticism of my moderation. Just a criticism of some irrelevant semantics and the CD thing.

I was at a thing in college the last day where the president of my college gave a talk. Interesting guy. As any Irishmen will attest the pressing issue in college politics today is the re-introduction of fees. Right now as an Irish citizen I pay €1,200(ish) a year for college while the government pays the balance of about €13,000. However with the economic downturn they're considering cutting that. I won't bore you with the details. Anyway at the Q&A after the speech most of the questions revolved around this topic and I saw a number of parallels with the current situation here. After being asked a lot of pointed questions by people who clearly didn't understand the protocol of a Q&A session (re; ask your question, sit down) and verifying his position that fees are unavoidable someone asked "but how can you say you support fees when you represent a college of some 17,000 students, the vast majority of whom oppose their introduction?". He answered "because I have the strength of character to do so". Because he knows he's right. Because he's looking at the situation from a more responsible position because at the end of the day it's his decision. The responsibility lies on his shoulders, not the students.

All this was cemented in my head by later on in the discussion. Someone questioned why, when funding was being cut in Department X, was the college funding Student Sundays (I've never been but apparently the college is opened on a Sunday for a number of academic and recreational activities). The president commented on the short "corporate memory" of the student body. That last year he was lobbied to introduce Student Sundays, that this was the crucial point on the agenda. Everyone wanted a Student Sunday. So he introduces Student Sunday. Instantly everyone forgets about Student Sundays. Turnout is shit and at the next meeting here we are criticising him for introducing Student Sundays. No, we want funding for Project Y! What were some of the points brought up in the Letter to X thread? Introduce new mods! We start about introducing new mods and you complain about how we're doing it and who we're choosing (basically, for not choosing you). I ban someone for being and idiot and you complain I was too trigger-happy. I don't ban someone and you complain I'm too lax. You wonder why I haven't closed a thread started twenty minutes ago and you haven't even bothered to report it. You complain about cliques starting but claim I shouldn't infract you because you're a "senior member" to whom the rules don't apply.

Anyway, I'm ranting. I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
