wrong priorities at school/work Ok, here's the situation. I have just been given isolation for the day when I return to my school in January. Basically, we have 6 punishments at our school;
C1 : Formal warning, a detention is more than likely given to the pupil.
C2 : Student concern letter is sent home to the pupils parent/gaurdian.
The pupil is more than likely given a short accompanying detention
either in the day or after school.
C3 : After school detention (1 hour) + letter home.
C4 : Isolation. The student is kept in a dark secluded room under heavy
surveillance for the day. They cannot leave the room for any reason
unless to use the toilet, where they will be accompanied by
somebody. The pupil cannot leave the room to eat and so must bring
food there. They have only one 15 minute break in which to consume
thier food. The pupil is then made to copy out the school code of
conduct for 45 minutes. The pupil then returns to thier normal
schoolwork.
C5 : Suspension.
C6 : Expulsion.
The reason I was given isolation is because I used a web proxy to visit blocked websites such as Youtube and Facebook. I know you may argue that I'm in school to learn and shouldn't be visiting such sites but that argument becomes invalid when you see that the teachers regularly visit Youtube and Facebook in lessons (because the admins nicely unblocked it for them).
I was given this shitty isolation crap for when I return to school. It's the most fucking depressing thing to do. No interaction with anybody or anything. Claustrophobic atmosphere. Shit, basically. And i'm a smoker. I know that it's only 1 day but they are considering a week due to some "security issues" I supposedly caused.
My school needs to get it's priorities straight. Our school has been in the media thrice. Twice for drug abuse and once for weapons. Basically girls were caught snorting crack in the toilets before lessons and the school did nothing. The second time was for the same reason but months later. The third time some dickhead bought a replica gun into school and pointed it at the cameras.
How about you? Any experiences? Does your school/workplace need to get it's priorities straight? And retarded rules that are just.......well, retarded?
