Pentaerythritol is the organic compound with the formula C(CH2OH)4. This white, crystalline polyol is a versatile building block for the preparation of many polyfunctionalized compounds such as the explosive PETN and pentaerythritol triacrylate[1]. Derivatives of pentaerythritol are components of alkyd resins, varnishes, PVC stabilizers, tall oil esters, and olefin antioxidants.
Halogen-free pentaerythritol esters are also environmentally friendly alternative to conventional electrical transformer fluids, being both readily biodegradable and non-hazardous in water. They advantageously replace polychlorobiphenyl (PCB), and even silicone-based or fluorinated hydrocarbons, as dielectric fluid in transformers. Their low volatility and high flash point give them an excellent resistance to ignition in case of major electrical failure and transformer rupture.

Judging from your reply to this and the other thread mentioned, we see a big fat no, because neither of them provided a 'correct' answer to the question. If you're going to cut-n-paste 'answers', the least you could do is C-P the right answers.

I was simply stating the fact that i knew about it by telling him about it so before you say something look at it from other peoples prospectives to see how they answer a question

he has a point. i see too many people to LAZY too type something into wikipedia. here we have a guy who will do it for us!

i see this as a big sign to how our forums are degrading.

i have no experience with the chemicals named above, so i wouldnt attempt it. i suggest making your thread more specific, for example about the knowledge YOU know, and not the scientists at our friend wikipedia.

still. it shows hes researching. thats more than most people here.

To willy, no.. no... this guy is not better. He actually flaunts around with his imaginary knowledge pretending to be some kind of chemistry messias while all he has discovered is google.

Im not going to report him though.. headcase will do something horrible eventually, but till that time we can just take our time in calling this guy an imbecile..

Seriously though, it's clear as day this is a copy-and-paste job but that's not reason enough for a ban. Not yet anyway. I'll warn him to include references to his plagarised sources but hey, if all it does is save me a trip to Wikipedia it's not all bad.

It's not that that's annoying. It's him posting a thread wherein he describes himself as el savior, "for all your problems and questions", and ends up sloppily copying stuff and not even answering a question with em.

If he'd back up now, stfu till he really knows something he can tell us that has a value, then fine by me.

Dude, I actually am too lazy to type things into Google. Someone like this may prove useful in the future when I need three different answers to a question. I dig the concept.

Can pure KNO3 ever go bad? Seriously I always wondered if I should store it some way.
Is there a better source of sulfur than the like 8% stuff I find at wal-mart?
Do enough explosive compounds require an oven to warrant adding one to my lab designs?
Should I buy or rent in this economy?

It won't decompose without very strong heating or chemical means AFAIK. Room temp in a closed container is fine.

I got 90% at a garden shop. I've also seen 90% in a couple of hardware stores in the garden section. It's for adjusting soil pH. It can be purified but it's a pain and usually unnecessary.

I only use a hotplate for explosives, but ovens are good for drying things like NH4NO3, NaNO3, or whatever you use for a desiccant. The hotplate is a must if you plan on experimenting with a wide range of compounds.

I thought a two burner camp range would work just fine. I was thinking of looking into those small toaster ovens. I had one on a boat once that could go up to about 350 degrees and I doubt I'd ever need more than 150 to dry something out so I'm thinking it might be worth it for off site labs.

Lol, in all seriousness does AH-Bomb come around any more. When I came here and started asking questions like crazy and giving bad advice I was to embarrassed to talk for a month. I just sat and listened.

Yes, H-Bomb, how do You make it? I have Erythritol; it is a sugar substitute common on eBay. I think PE needs two chemicals in an alkaline environment...never tried it, sounds hard.
