I'd like to start out with this little slab of text:
Erowid Cannabis Vault : Chemistry Notes #2
Now this method for changing the chemical conformation of CBN to THC sounds pretty trustworthy.. Refluxing with sulfuric acid is also done to polymerise acetaldehyde into it's polymere so it is a procedure I'm familiar with.. However, why do you need to use 100% alcohol?? Pretty sure the sulfuric acid contains water too and using a bit more acid will catch any leftovers of water away.. Still don't know if this works for sure though, so if anyone is able to verify this I'd be very happy.
Some other parts of this document in where the writer describes how to produce the hash oil itself confuses me a bit though. In particular the part in where he starts to "burn" the stuff:
"Place fibers in a cast iron skillet. Ignite the alcohol to burn it off, and
while you continue with the extraction of the essence, keep a very low flame
under the ashes of the fibers for one hour, stirring them occasionally."
I've done some extractions in the past using butane gas but I didn't like the fact that it might contain impurities.. So know I'd like to try acetone extraction. Anyone has some details on this?? Experience, tips, or information about what in total is being extracted with it are more than welcome.
