Removing Guaifenesin?

I bought some Primatene

Ephedrine HCI,USP 12.5 mg - Bronchodilator
Guaifenesin USP 200 mg - Expectorant

How to I remove the Guaifenesin?

I just want the ephedrine.

find out what Guaifenesin is soluble in that pfed hcl is not soluble in and that would be your starting point

i don't know shit about chemistry. i have been using it to loose weight and just feel it would help if i got that guaifenesin out cause i have been taking a bunch of it and its messing with my lungs.

Guaifenesin is soluable in water at cold temperatures (25-40C).
If you're using Primatene tablets, you should be able to dissolve a crushed tablet in cold water and extract the ephedrine salts from the water.

Took two minutes to find that - behold the power of google.

didn;t work, crushed up the pills mixed in water and then filtered it. Ended up with close to the same weight i started with

Does the box you're using say "Ephedrine" or "Pseudo-ephedrine".
Did you crush the pills of just break them?
How long did you let it sit?
Was the water between 25 and 40 degrees C?

It's not magic mike, you don't toss it all in a pot and "bang" - it works instantly.

Try actually looking for the extraction process on other sites - or just google "Guaifenesin soluability".
