Need to know if there is a way to disable school cameras
I am not real familiar with all this technology stuff, but I am wondering if there is a way to stop a school's camera system from working for a short period of time without the alarms going off.

school cameras, heh, only in america....
if you're not familiar with tech stuff then im afraid theres no "clap three times and say abrakadabra" trick. you dont have to disable the cameras. your 2 options:
1) do the deed, then destroy the evidence.
Probably the higher risk option, especially as people may be watching the tapes as they record. This would involve breaking into a room then breaking/stealing the relevant disc/tape/computer, = pointless damage.
2) destroy/disable the evidence (cams) then do the deed.
In the movie inside man (kickass btw), they point powerful laser pointers into the cameras and it fucks with the lense. mb do this the day(s) before or something, then when you see them looking into it going "wtf" and/or a technician arriving then you know its out of order.
As far as killing the power you would have to do a little search, and even then you might be recorded pulling the plug. That said, some systems run off alternate/backup power. I have no idea what schools would do
And before someone suggests it, an EMP would be overkill..

Actually my school has CCTV Cameras in the Cafeteria and in several other parts of the school; And I'm in the United Kingdom...
I would damage the tape system beyond repair. Firstly finding out if the cameras actually do record. Not to insult the OP's intelligence but a lot of CCTV Cameras don't actually record anything... They are just there for the scare factor...

how powerful of a laser pointer are we talking? I still have about a month before we need to get into the school, so i have plenty of time to get stuff together

A fairly powerful one, to say the least...
I would do some research.

dude... a slingshot and a jar full of marbles. just step out of the view of the camera and keep slinging until its obviously damaged/wires disconnected. best done at night

Would spraying the lenses of the camera with paint work? Just wondering. I know if the lenses does get wet, the recording does look a bit blurry.

Well, the cameras have a small glass bubble case around them, so paint might work...

Hello, im quite new here but ive seen homemade lasers on youtube that could light a match, maybe if you find a blind spot and aim the laser at the camera. Would be my best guess YouTube - Lighting a match with my homemade laser

For cameras, you don't need lasers powerful enough to burn through objects, you just need one of decent power and focus. There are a couple problems with using lasers which make them quite impractical for anything other than fun, the main being stability. You'll need to have a steady hand or be close to the camera to blind it, secondly the laser may not obscure the image properly so you will need to test the laser on a few different cameras at home. Thirdly cameras can counteract the threat of lasers by using a red filter, of course not all laser are red but the majority are. And fourth of all, you need to be in the cameras view before being able to shine it through the lens, making it somewhat pointless to use a laser in the first place.
If I were you, I'd find a plan around the cameras because disabling them is too difficult of a task, especially in such a busy establishment like a school. Paint and permenant markers will work, just find a way to apply it without getting spotted.

When ever camera's are a problem I wear this item called a mask.
I'm guessing your school has atleast 1000 kids.
If you don't wear anything identifiable you'll be fine.
If you really want the camera's not to see you, throw a balloon filled with paint at it.

Corner paki store type cameras can be blinded temporarily with a good laser pointer; I've done this myself and can confirm it works.
Black domes I've not attempted blinding or disabling, I only usually come across them in stores, blindspots are your friend.
Also just keeping your head down or covered and then covering the camera is an option as well, if for example robbing a place at night (of course you could just take the surveillance tapes if you had access to the room though, and were working from inside the company(they definitely check surveillance when huge quantity has gone "missing"; more so than what they ever do over petty shoplifters).
As for schools, the school I was at had the black dome sin the toilets; we covered them up with wet toilet paper (kept our heads down and caps on while doing it...it was hard to catch anyone because pretty much everyone in my school had a burberry or aquascutum cap).

whoever it was who was wanting to know how to get a powerful laser. YouTube - How to Make a Burning Laser if you are at all tech savvy this can help you turn any regular laser pointer into a high powered burning laser. i've done this before and unless you over solder the inside it worls like a charm. also a good way to but a cheap laser and sell it as an expensive laser.

Funniest thing in the world, and greatest idea. A kid from my school got one of those hoodies which u can zip up to turn into a mask, he put it on under the steps in a blind spot. He goes up to the camera and rips the cealing tile down around the camera, theres all these wires, he gets a knife and cuts the wires and runs away and then comes back up without a mask. Our school had to install a new camera and they never found out who did it. I suppose that would work for you?

lol, Why goto all the effort of using a laser and shit when u could just wear a mask/ disguise? At my school the cameras are under the eves and you can acess them from the roof without being seen and cover them with duct tape, not that anyone watces them anyway

theres no need for lazers and and destroying cameras. all you need is to solder some super bright infa-red LED's (780nm - 1mm) hook it up to a battery and tape the hole thing to a head band. when you have it on no one can see the light comming from the LED's but securrity cameras can see through there Infa-red filters so instead of seeing your face the cameras see a big bright circle of light here's a link with some security camera pics
Hackszine.com: LED security camera disruptor
Good Luck,

here's a hint: break into the office and take out the tapes, if there even are any. If it's digital, take the hard disks or just kill the server with a shotgun.
|
Yes, you're a genius, use a loud, noisy shotgun to take out a simple camera system, no one will hear you. But before that you just need to "break" into the office, it's so simple, because in a school where the camera control room most likely has staff near by no one will suspect a person "breaking in" with a shotgun.
