Just make sure you have the necassary equipment and you will be fine, trust me. Knife, flint, lighter(the flint is backup), some food, and a shelter.

do not take tinned food! make sure the food you take is light, the best things are the 'just add water' meals. also chocolate will give you all the sugar you need. don't worry about greens, you can find them as you go along. when you camp make sure it is in the small patches of forest. learn to make snares for rabbits ect.

this is a little far....if he was to run away from home, why would he just use shops?! and if he cant use shops because he doesnt have the funds to support himself, then he is clearly to young to even think about living off the land.

making a snare for a rabbit isnt as easy as it sounds, and a certain degree of knowledge is needed to strip it and know what to eat. Stupid advice on a topic that a child should not even be thinking of doing is just down right irresponsible.

He should stick to camping with his dad.....

what part of a rabbit cant you eat? after scout sniper school, and survival school in the USMC i can tell you right now that its pretty much everything.
also, if he even has the idea of what a snare should do, he will figure it out real quick.

if your planning on living in the bush, bring a hatchet, or a machete along with your 5 overkill knives

pack light, the less you can survive on the better until you are far enough away that you dont think they are looking, the still keep it fairly light.
dont use a tent, unless its a camo one, unless you want any possible search choppers to see where you are like your sitting in a strobe light shop.

if you were so good at survival school you will know that moving to a secluded place and staying put is a great idea, make a small fire, and build a really nice leanto insulate it with mosses and grass, a little sod would be great. if you do find yourself out in the country enough to find sheep, use that to your advantage, just make sure you dont let any blood or fat hang around your camp, as im sure you have some type of bear in england (not positive, you guys did pretty much hunt all the animals there to nothing ness) also saving some money to get a .22 would be good, but prolly not an option there, i understand the rifle laws are pretty strict.

make sure you save the sheep wool to use in your leanto, put as much pine bows on the lean to to keep it really well insulated, and depending on howmany of your "mates" there are, keep it simple 2 to a leanto, but keep the leantos close together, some canned beans or what ever you can steal from a grocery store would be a great advantage to you guys, but remember you will need to get used to eating light, cause you cant get money without a job of somesort (without risking the law) follow your own common sence and you will do just fine, i myself have survived for months with nothing more than a nice knife (ka-bar) and a hachet, dress warm when you leave, and perhaps grabe a jacket and a hoodie, with some sweats or something you can wear under your pants IE under armor.

if cut and boiled long enough, you can eat everything on a rabbit (if you save the skin with the fur) even the skin if its been shaved really well, or that side was put on a fire. in survival school (this is outside of the Marines) we were put outside with a terrible tent (each one of us was given a tent without poles) a knife, our boots and clothing, and a box of five .22 bullets. before we went in we were taught how to eat whole animals, even up to the point of grinding the bones of small animals to extract the calcium, after all if your willing to kill something might as well make a complete meal out of it and not waste anything, terribly disrespectful to what ever you killed. I would say that i draw the line at bones, but we were taught that if ground to a powder and boiled with berries and mint, it made quite a tea. don't underestimate the power of hunger and the human body.

In New Zealand they drop massive amounts of 1080 poison to kill rabbits and possums. this is why you don't eat the guts or stomach. im not sure if they drop poison in other countries?

Animal poisoning is sick because other humans unknowingly could get sick this way. I'm sure if you cooked the meat long enough even the intestines would have some safety to be slightly edible.

i would never want to live out in the woods, but if i had to, i probably could. as long as it wasn't really cold cuz im way too skinny for that.

what you do is rent, buy, stream the movie into the wild, learn a few things from there about survival. know how to do basic meat preservation for the situation and learn what plants are edible, and if the plants are edible make sure you eat the right parts of the plant. Don't be exactly like the main guy in "into the wild", bring a compass and a detailed map of a region that may have no civilization, it will save your life one day. If you dont want to be found use a fake name for everything, bring no ID, and leave no traces. If you really dont want to be found, fake your own death and leave town as fast as you can, there will be a nice news report on the paper and TV, there will be a sad day for your family as they bury a coffin with nothing inside where they will visit every now and then and cry that you left their lives for good. My real suggestion is that this is a stupid idea, dont do it. Wait till ur 18 or emancipated, leave on your journey fully prepared leaving no restrictions like the police trying to find you.

*nod* Listen to this guy. Bring what you need and don't make yourself obvious if you are serious about it. I would take a small bottle of lighter fluid to use for helping along a fire.
