Default e.m.p.

simple question,
for educational purposes does anyone know how to build/ have diagrams
on how to build an E.M.P.

EMP technology is way below where it can be used for warfare. Things cause EMPs, but only like a nuclear explosion.

You'll need to feed an unfeasibly large amount of electricity through a large low-inductance capacitor, and then discharge via a single-loop antenna.

If the above doesn't make sense to you, then you'll significantly struggle with anything resembling accurate plans to build a device capable of creating a significant electromagnetic pulse.

I recommend you take a few years (literally, a few years, minimum) to study the basics of physics, and then to branch off into that area of science once you are comfortable and competent with basic physics. Keep in mind that many students and scientists spend over a decade doing nothing but learning physics before they can accurately design or experiment with such devices.

EMP technology is very complex and the working EMP generators all have a very limited range. Your best bet is using a microwave immitor to disrupt electromagnetic conduction.

Well, that's the other way. My understanding of the process leads me to believe that the microwave radiation method is slightly more dangerous, but I have no idea of the costings for each method (which would also be a significant factor, I suppose).

Anyway, this thread has been moved to the Electronics forum. The only explosive device I'm aware of that will create an electromagnetic pulse of any significance is a nuclear weapon, and I highly doubt that any member will be working with those.

There are EMP guides on Totse but I doubt they are reliable.
If you really want to build an EMP device, study the field of electronics including the use of schematics. Then look for some schematics.
The following may be of benefit to you.
The Free Information Society - Mini EMP Schematic
"More Electronic Gadgets for the Evil Genius" Page 87-91, Search for an eBook online.

Using a microwave emitter of substantial size, might be a bad idea... Microwaves can and will "cook" living tissue. *nods* note the large fenced off areas around radar towers and such....

take two sheets of copper mesh 1square cm smaller than a sheet of glass and hot glue it to that glass on both sides with about 1.5 penny height from the glass

insert in microwave until it begins to glow blue and smell of ozone. if done right it should have killed everything but the microwave.

trust me on this it raped my last computer.

Sounds like it would make the fancy new microwaves with computer chips in them break. And what would happen if I put one of these in a microwave of someone I hate and left it on for like half an hour? Microwave bomb or something?

I dont know the science behind the mesh screens thing but it sounds like bullshit.

If the charges could stay in the device for long enough to make an electric feild, the feild would be dispelled as soon as it got far enough to conduct out of the microwave. The loss by induction would probably be enough to make the device useless in itself.

actually...its a huge dielectric capacitor.... one able to store several kilovolts....its being put into a microwave...

lol
