ive been thinking about a senoir prank for my class this year. my first idea was to somehow change the html file that is located on the surf control server. (the surf control - access denied page that is shown when you try to visit a blocked webpage.) this would be very hard, and would require the ip adresss of the server, and the admin password, neither of which i have.

Our school is medium sized, with about 130 students per class. they have very good network security, due to the prick that is the "Computer Systems Manager." There is Fortres 101 on every computer in the school, along with syncronEyes. all the computers are running xp.

I think that any hacking of the network would best be done on a laptop, probly in one of the networking closets. there are three in the school, and both are in isolated places. Lets just say that i would have no problem getting into them, and i know my way around the networking switches.

So...
this is my big idea -
Set up a laptop running a proxy server in one of the closets, or a router with modified firmware, that would serve the same html page for every website, something along the lines of "CLASS OF 09 BICTH!".

thing is i have no idea how i would go about getting a proxy server running and route all the traffic in one part of a school through it.

In most of the networking closets, there are three of four delll switches, with each having a gigabit ethernet cable running a separate switch that has a fiberoptic that connects to the other parts of the school.
my idea was that if i could run the four calbes from the swicthes through my server, and have a cable going to the fiber switch.this would be around 150 computers total.

The easiest way to do this would to be to hack into the router.
when you get into the router use *(wildcard) to block all websites in the internet access policy. then there should be a box where you can say the reason why you blocked the page. Or if thats not there you could name the policy "class of 09 bitch" but im not sure if it will show on the blocked page.

as far as a proxy you shouldn't need one if you are using your schools network to get a internet connection. Although they might be able to get your MAC address for your laptop.

I'd change settings on the school's main router. Maybe edit the HTML of the block page to say whatever you want.
