Question Windows Vista vs. Windows XP

Which do you think is better, Windows Vista or XP? Or will you go far enough to think Mac or Linux is the best?

Personally, I love XP Pro, and will never use a Mac.

I think that people are best to use a microwave oven. Windows simply can't reheat meals like a microwave oven can.

Asking whether or not something is better is useless unless you specify a context of a specific task or goal.

As Random is correct i need to say one thing..

VISTA SUCKS XP FTW XP! XP!

I hate vista i have it and decided when i started using it, i need to make my own OS lol.

Eh but i uch rather have xp for me this is the line. Mac > Xp> Fedora > Chicken soup > A Toilet > Vista

As you can see Vista is on the bottom of my list xD

Default Vista

People have found vista to have its strengths over XP in two ways: overall security and business use. Not much that I'm guessing people who are on this site are going to need. I mostly hear people complaining about vista slowing down their computers. Yes, its going to make your computer slower then XP, but their is a lot that you can do to improve the processing speed of the system. I've gone through both XP and vista, and I'm having no trouble with vista.

Xp is the way to go.
But vista has a few cool features. I want to stress the word "few".

Vista would be a waste of a perfectly good computer.

Now here is your misconception my good man. Windows xp has more adaptable to foreign programs capabilities, where in vista they make it difficult to even play a video game with their new UAC system. I got over 30 types of virus, 200 trojans, and 7 worms on vista when i didnt have ZoneAlarm running and allowed the windows vista firewall to run its course. I turned on ZoneAlarm and shut down windows, and cleaned out my computer of the virus's and not a problem yet.

Now i have used xp all my time i have used a computer and never had this problem whilst using windows firewall from it. The Vista UAC cuts down efficiency on the User end attempting to keep you from going anywhere to get a virus but it does not work in the least. Vista Sucks.

Also you said Business use. Vista cannot run all the features XP can run for its new integration system does not pick up every piece of hardware you need. I have wordpad, notepad, microsoft office 2007 and all that stuff on my vista, as it was on my xp. It runs horribly slow and is just a pain in the ass.

Windows XP experienced detecting hardware and running software issues when it was released. They will probably resolve a lot of the issues when a service pack or two come out.

Well actually xP was a revamped version of 95, just integrated with a new look, more capabilities and more software. It already had its firewall and index of virus prepared in the OS.

Vista changed everything because it is not just another knock off. Vista is a completely new, reprogrammed OS it has absolutely nothing from the previous versions coding wise.

Source? Or at least some sort of measurements on your part?

This is a joke. If you want to make a claim of fact, make it - but provide accurate and reputable sources that support your claim.

If you can't support your claim, don't make it.

this thread is so full of stupidity.

you can turn off UAC. And you need a little more than a firewall to stop viruses, like try a virus scanner.

also try downloading less child porn and warez, maybe you'll get less viruses.

I currently use XP, and I HAVE used vista although chose to stick with xp for the time being. Vista didn't kill me with viruses or make all of my programs inoperable or eat my children. In fact that only issue I had was with an older version of alcohol 120% not running and I simply had to download a patch before it would run.

oh, and vista is based on the windows 2003 structure not windows 95.
