How do you make an alarmclock timer for a cassettte player

What I want to do here is connect a battery pack to an alarm clock in such a way that when the alarm goes off it completes the circuit so the current from the battery turns on the cassette player at the other end.

im not 100 percent postive this would work but could you take the wires running to a speaker and cut them and put them into a relay and the use the relay to turn on the cassette player?

You could program any microchip and whip up a quick little something in some hdl.. the soldering is annoying though.

OR if you had a photoelectric sensor and a stopwatch you could wire the photoelectric sensor to the casette (the stopwatch should flash when it's done counting down)

any way you do this you will probably need: a sensor, a timer, and a casette player re-soldered w/ a wire connecting the switch that would be normally trigged by the button...which wouldn't even work...seems like an awful lot of hassle over something like this.
