Help with file Recieving

Occasionally when using msn messenger (version 7.0 - Build 7.0.0813) my friends send me files. Now, with mp3, bmp, jpeg and other similiar files, I have no problems. However, .exe files and the like get blocked automatically.
My systen is automatically blocking files it deems to be a risk, and even if I know that they are fine, it still wont let me download them.
It may be useful to know I use Windows XP Home Edition (I think it has service pack 2 also).

Anyone know how to stop this blocking?
I have tried switching off the firewall and have fiddled with the security settings to no avail.

i know service pack 2 and one btoh disabel a hell of a lot fo features it deems to be Security risks" mainly why loads of may mates coudl play there games and use alls orts because things like gta were a serious threat to the computer

microsoft stinks at secrutiy i dont bother with it i use good old hardware

It's not windows, it's MSN messenger: what you need to do is disable the blocking of certain file transfers - go to

www.mess.be

'downloads' -> 'search our files' -> and search for 'transfer'

Either the 'mess patch' or 'file extension unblocker' will do the trick

Hope that sorts it for ya, bear in mind you may need to unblock the transfer of certain file transfers at BOTH ends (i'm not entirely sure if it's only receiving or sending as well that is blocked)

Y'know they also block all messages containing the string ".pif"
