Sim Card Hacking?

I've got a friend who hacked his satellite boxcard.
Well it gave made me wonder if you could hack a satellite boxcard could you hack a cellphone sim card to increase minutes or unlimited text, cause I have pre-paid att (Bad credit cause of medical bills) so I want to hack the card to read that I've deposited x amount into my account
Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

I'm not an expert on phones, but I'm pretty sure that information is not stored on the SIM card. The SIM card is registered with your service provider, and the balance remaining on the card is stored on their servers.

See i thought the same thing but I know when you remove the sim card and implant it into the same companies phone (e.g. att sim card into a att phone) all of your information is transfered and usually convertated into the different phone data

The sim card contains all YOUR personal info, phonebook, call settings, phone number etc. The minutes are stored on ATT's server so that every time your phone is turned on, it checks to see how many minutes you have left. It works similar to any store bought gift-card. So, no, you can't hack a sim card to add minutes. You can hack satellite cards, but they aren't actually "sim" cards, they are a programmable ASIC chip.
