Rep Power: 0 | | Precursors/Chemicals i am writing this post as there is no posts about this.
here is a list of chemicals and there uses
ammonium nitrate: can be brought from supermarket in instant ice packs
and also brought from farming stores as a fertiliser which is used to grow advocados.
potassium nitrate: can be brought as stump rotter or from fertilizer shop
Potassium chlorate: can be brought from pet stores in a tablet form used to oxidise the water in fish tanks
75% nitric acid: the only place where i can buy this over counter is from good hydroponics shops, its used to increase nitrogen in plants
potassium permanganate: this can be brought from most garden shops used to treat water for alge
6% hydrogen peroxide: can be brought from chemist to treat wounds n shit
30% hydrogen peroxide: can be brought from hydroponics stores to treat water
this should help to get you started with explosives
if you have any more please add to this post

+
Potassium Permanganate: Sometimes used as a wart removal substance. Try having a look in a chemist.

Rep Power: 0 | | sulfuric acid: automotive suppliers, used as battery acid (no brainer there)
Hydrochloric acid: hardware stores, also known as muriatic acid etc
Acetone: Hardware stores, paint shops. Used as a thinner.
Hydrogen peroxide can also be bought from hairdressing suppliers, used as hair bleach (be careful as you can get cream peroxide too, you don't want that).
Toluene (sp?): hardware stores (you seriously don't need to give them a reason for buying stuff if it's at a hardware store etc)
Glycerine: Supermarkets (i think, i've seen it there before, in the ugh, medical bit, with the bandages etc).
Methyl Ethyl Ketone (used to make MEKP/Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide, liquid peroxide explosive): Plumbing suppliers, used as a pipe sealant/joiner. Also hardware stores.
Nitromethane: Hobby shops (so i've heard), use as RC car fuel (so i've heard).
Fuel Oil for ANFO: (no brainer here) Go to your petrol station, and get some diesel. That's Fuel Oil
Note with ammonium nitrate. Not all instant cold packs use AN, read the lable.
If i think of more i will add them.

Rep Power: 0 | | Common brand names for 93% sulfuric acid are Root-O and Clobber. They are both used as heavy duty drain openers. In the U.S. at least.

Rep Power: 0 | | Wal-Mart has (allegedly) 100% KNO3 in Spectracide brand stump killer. Or my Wal-Mart does at least. I looked the MSDS up before I bought some, and it says 100%, which doesn't have me as excited as if it would have said 98%, since even KNO3 purchased to actually BE KNO3 isn't 100%. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Coincidentally, United Nuclear recently added 35% Hydrogen Peroxide to the Chemicals and Metals listing. 10$ for 16 oz... not the best price, but not the worst either. They also added Ethyl Alcohol, but I should point out that it is actually Denatured Alcohol, as it contains some methanol.

Rep Power: 0 | | So, I don't know of any hydroponics stores in the area. I'm having trouble finding 30% H202. Should I be worried about ordering through the mail?
Edit:
Just remembered that Sulfur can be found in "farmer" stores as some sort of bug killer or something. I think it's normally about 95% purity and relatively cheap as well. |

Rep Power: 0 | | If you order H2O2 online, and anyone asks you anything, just say you're doing a science experiment with hydrogen peroxide and potatoes, illustrating the reaction between the enzyme, peroxidase, and hydrogen peroxide, which goes like this...
H2O2=>H2O+O

Rep Power: 0 | | Oh man, I was confused as to what a hydroponics store really was exactly. I was checking pool stores for stuff. Alright, I know what a florist is. Thanks. Oh, and Muriatic Acid, is that used in stone cleaning or something, cause I'm a bit awry about buying things like this in stores, especially from the same stores, cause I'm not easily forgotten since I have blue hair, and I'm a teenager, so I stick out as a regular "hooligan". |

Seriously, years ago when i first went to pick some up, i was dressed in loose jeans, a black hoody and a black cap, picked up a 5L bottle off the shelf, paid for it and just waltzed out, no questions asked. |

This is KNO3 known as potassium nitrate.
Will this work for recipes that call for KNO3?
Will something need to be done to this before it can be used as KNO3
(Don't kill me Shalshaska I'm just making sure.)

Rep Power: 0 | | Depends on usage. What do you need it for? For some things it needs to be milled down, other things it is fine as-is, and for smoke comps, you should just melt it down with sugar, which burns faster with more smoke.

Quite pure as well. I found a few tablets on the ground and picked them up...What can I use these tablets to make? I'm sure I've seen it in a few recipies. |

Something like that.

By the way, hobby firework's ball mills are a complete rip-off. It was like.. $205 US for a wooden casing, a motor and a freaking plastic jar. That's about 340 NZ dollars not including freight, and it looks like something I just made in my back shed.
I cant believe how many people there are on the net trying to f**k you over.

Rep Power: 0 | | Unknown chemicals Hello and here's a strange question for anyone into chemicals.
I've just bought some chemical powders and they are not ladeled, they are also very old in glass bottles.
The only infomation i have now is one powder is white and starts with the word sodium.
There's two other unknown chemicals one is white and i'll know the other colour when it's delivered, but it looks brown or red.
There were some other chemicals that still have there lables, these are copper sulfate, potassium permanganate and zinc powder with some other items.
They are ment to be from the time we in the UK had a king,so they must be very old.
It would be handy if i had a way of finding out what the chemicals are so i could use them.
Thanks for any help.John. |

maybe?

Rep Power: 4 | | One thing I would say john is to be REALLY careful.
I have heard some horror stories!
For example, one pharmacist found a glass container of VERY old picric acid in his shop.
He went to open the screw top lid, and some of it musdt have recrytalized in the thread of the lid. Needles to say, the pharmacist and pharmacy no longer exist.
I doubt anybody would sell you picric acid BUT, unlabled chemicals can be immesurably hazardous in so many ways. Please be careful john!
I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, you seem to know your stuff and it could even seem patronising. I apologize if it does but I'd rather be safe than sorry!
Take care
-Hetfield

-Hetfield | Thanks for the friendly advice Hetfield, careful is my middle name, but shit does happen as we both know.
I shall only test small amounts and if worried they will be dumped.
I'm more intressed it the bottles, but it would be nice to know what the chemicals are, they could even be drugs, looking at the other chemicals i would think not.
I think it would also be safer to open the bottles with all my safty stuff including a mask.
Thanks again.John.
PS I'll let you know the outcome when they have arrived.
