but does anyone know what will happen if the AP goes of in your hand or if it goes off and your very close to it...would you die? would you get serious injuries like would your leg get blown off

I had a small amount of AP (probably less than a gram) go up and it took the hair off my knuckles and a little off my lower arm. That was awhile back though.

Buy fuse from www.cannonfuse.com if you are in the US, otherwise, depending on the size of what you are trying to det. I would reccomend sparklers.

I've not worked with AP before, so excuse my ignorance - AP is somewhat reactive in terms of detonation, correct? Would that not make an open flame somewhat dangerous to have near it, or is that safe?

It is not safe at all. I have heard of AP detonating at 100*F (or is that C). I had a red hot stick about .5cm above 2g of AP and it went up with a little pop.

I wasn't sure exactly how safe using a sparkler for a fuse would be - but if it works, it works, I guess...

It does work, probably isn't the safest but if it's all you've got then you don't have much choice.

as long as you keep like a cardboard barrier so a stray spark wont hit it, you'll be fine, those are actually nice long time delays.

As random said, don't post things like that in this forum. We do not endorse violence and causing harm to others, or endorse methods/ways of killing someone or creating weapons/devices that are intended to do so (i.e shrapnell devices).
Please use common sense when posting on these forums. AP = heat sensitive, shock sensitive, reacts with metal. One spark touches it, boom, happened to me whilst drunk, and my face was less than 30cm away from it.

Sparkler fuse, use only if you seal the AP from the fuse. Use electrical tape to cover the top, and poke a hole through it etc.

And thug, please watch what/how you post in future.

When I used a sparkler I had 2 seperate ones taped together and the AP was in a TP tube casing. After one sparkler burnt down a bit it would light the other one and then that one would light the AP. This was only the 2nd time I had ever made AP, after that I bought real fuse from cannonfuse.com.

After I make AP I detonate it in a controlled environment so that it is as safe as possible. I think Sphynx has made the most.

Dunno bout the rest of them, but i dry it and detonate it, in a safe place ofcoarse

1 mistake and you're dead? That's no different than driving a car, or going skydiving, or a lot of things that more mainstream people enjoy.

Everything has its risks, some more than others, but provided that appropriate measures are taken to nullify or minimise those risks, then there shouldn't be a problem.

could you make the AP crystals without keeping it in a fridge for a week.
also what type of fridge do you recommend...the normal one which you keep all your food and stuff??? or a different one?

Well as long as it's covered, or even if it isn't, a regular fridge will work just fine. You could make AP without refridgeration it would just be more unstable, I have heard you get more through a warm reaction though.

i used a different fridge, it was sealed off though, i keapt the containers in plastic bags, then put a rubber band around the opening. I think it occasionally had some food in it.

I wouldn't keep tasting AP unless you are stupid or have a death wish, just think about some of the reagents used.

I believe it was used in breathmaking and a small ammount was released as it helped to weight and push the flower down....Unsure though.

When not using a fridge, more acetone will evaporate and thus lowering the yield.
And because the reaction takes place at a higher temperature more dimer will form.
So you will get more dicycloacetone peroxide insted of the wanted tricycloacetone peroxide.
