Detonating HE w/ a heat producing laser?

Would it be possible/practical to detonate a HE with a fuse by using a heat producing laser (as described in the tech forums) to light the fuse from a safe distance? what do you think the effective range on those lasers would be?

If you were to make a primer charge/detonator with very thin walls. It could be buried in the explosive so that only a square millimeter or two was visible. The laser would heat the metal casing to the point that the supersensitive detonator would explode. That explosion would detonate your larger charge.

I cant blame Echo for the post because it took me a while to think of a effective use of a laser.

The benefits of this method would be that your device could be detonated from up to 500 meters away, It requires only a few grams of metal and it

from such a distance it would be impractical, low power hand lasers lose coherency over such distances and modified ones even more so.

stick to using it to light fuses (or cigarettes in my case).\

500m of detonating wire snt difficult to come by neither are throwaway cell phones,proven practical and deadly as the thousands of dead Iraqi/Afghani US troopers would attest if able.
Far cheaper and far more reliable.Take it not from me but experts in the field.

Cell phone detonators are INCREDIBLY easy. Epoxy'ing two wires to the opposite sides of the vibration motor means that when the phone rings, the motor turns the wires which twists them together and completes the circuit.
