General Smoke Bomb thread
Ok, this is where we talk about Smoke bombs...
KNO3 + SUGAR SMOKIE
I know there are better ways to make smoke bombs. But at least it's easy to make, and obtaining the components shouldn't be too hard, and at the very least it's better than a pingpong ball wrapped in tin foil...
It will produce thick clouds of smoke for quite some time.
Items needed
<<<<<<>>>>>>
-Sugar: I suppose you won't have any problem finding sugar. Finest as possible.
-Potassium Nitrate(KNO3): also called saltpeter. Buy online or check your local garden shop for stump remover. If, instead of saltpeter, the stump remover's main component is Sodium Nitrate(NaNO3), also called Chile saltpeter, then take it. It will do.
-Container, anything will do. I take the cardboard toilet paper ones.
-Fuse. Rip it out of any piece of fireworks. The bigger the diameter, the better.
-Pan and a place where you can cook. Outdoor is best due to accidental ignition.
Making the mixture
<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>
-Mix the (Chile) Saltpeter and Sugar in a pan. Keep the ratio 3:2. For example, to fill a carboard tube, you need 60g/40gr. Slowly heat the mixture and keep stirring all the time, until the mixture turns into a peanutbutter-ish paste (don't eat).
Pour the mix into a cardboard tube. Push a pen all the way down and leave it. Remove the pen when the mix looks like it will stay in the shape the pen gave it. Put in a fuse, secure it with a piece of cotton wool. Then wrap the carboard tube with ductape. Leave a hole at the top.
Blabla
<<<>>>
-BEFORE IGNITING THIS, use your COMMON SENSE. After the moment of its ignition, the smoke bomb will produce a flame and heat. So you don't want to be holding it in your hand. The flames might set stuff on fire. So think, think and think again. And don't blame me for stupid stuff you've done.
-You can basically use any casing. A cardboard tube is just the easiest casing you can find (everyone wipes his ass, right?). This smokie will produce enough smoke to cover a whole hallway in smoke.
-Any improvements/tips are welcome.
-I will try to update this as soon as I've tried making a different type of smoke bomb

This is a rip off of a video a saw.
same thing down to putting a piece of cotton in it and everything.
theres already threads on this.
try putting matches glued or secured to the fuse as tight as possible. Have a little bit of fuse poking above they match heads. Finally secure the sides of match box with rubber bands and tape to the match heads. (not to tight you want to be able to pull it) If you can't figure out what this does your too stupid to make it.

Well as a matter of fact it's that video who taught me how to make them. And if you know any better ways to make smoke bombs, why don't you just post it?

So if I read that right, you're saying it's better not to cook it, but instead use it in powder form? Last time you cooked it, it caught alight in the cast iron skillet and burnt straight through it? I find that hard to believe...

hard to believe but it happened if you use it in powder form just add a little more potassium nitrate to the mix,but yes after that i decided to try it without cooking just to see what would happen and i actually got a more energetic reaction out of the powder

you can fill pipe bombs with sugar and kno3 and it will explode.
by cooking it forums a more stable smoke mixture instead of deflagerating (sp).

yes it will. But get it too hot and watch it eat through metal, in purple flame!

No it won't. Smoke bombs do not burn that how, maybe it was thermite.
Add baking soda(maybe powder, I get the two confused and the wrong one will make it not work) so it burns slower and the smoke bomb will give off more smoke
I just found this. Anyone have any idea if this will work or not, because if it does that would make it a lot easier to make.

They can burn through metal, thin metal granted, but still metal. It burnt through an old biscuit tin I chucked one in, I'll try to vid one the next time I make one and utube it.
Also the baking soda thing does work, I actually suggest adding some in, as you get a better show for your money.
Also a little off topic, whenever I make a big smoke bomb (that covers a street with thick smoke) I tend to throw up, however with smaller smoke bombs I don't, any ideas why?

I tried it out using baking soda and to my suprise it actually gave the mix a more stable burn and more smoke than without it, although the cooked mix still produced slightly more smoke.
