Mercury Detonator Hello all, new to forums, I like what you've got going on here.
I've had this idea in my head for a few weeks now, for a mercury detonation switch.
Basically take a thermometer, drill two very small holes in the top, opposite of each other, of course.
Insert a piece of wire into each side, so as they do not touch, seal with RTV silicon, or something similar.
When the mercury reaches the two points, it completes the circuit going to the actual detonation device. Assuming it is triggered via electricity.
Good for use on the exhaust system of a car, or for over-night placement, assuming the temperature will rise when the sun comes out.
Do not arm the device until after the mercury switch is installed, as an accidental tip of the tube might just blow you into small, unidentifiable pieces, assuming the device is powerful enough.
Drill the holes in thermometer tube according to the temperature you would like it to activate at.
Does anyone like this idea?
