Default Bleach/Toilet chemical explosive question

Not a fan of this but I have wondered if the simple water bottle explosive kids use would have the power to cause a pvc or metal pipe to also explode? Obviously using more chemical and more aluminum. What do you think? It is just nagging at me.

Another kid with another stupid works bomb

Works bombs aren't "explosives" - why people post this garbage is beyod me (next we'll have people talking about airsoft in the weapons forum).

Um.. personally I'd rather see him just say pyrotechnic but why would you say bomb? Dude is just asking a basic question and he said he isn't a fan which I'm considering means he doesn't do it. I think he mainly talks about APAN and ANFO. The answer would depend JoeB, PVC it may be possible but the idea that it has enough pressure to expand and burst a metal pipe? If you have te items on hand you could try it but if not don't do it.. it will remind you of high school chemistry or something.

No need to be an ass when someone asks a physics/chemistry question.

"Works Bomb" is what people call them. If you didn't know that, then you don't know what's being discussed here.

Your preference that he say "pyrotechnic" is further evidence that you don't know what you're talking about - as a "works bomb" isn't a pyrotechnic device.

No need to ask ridiculously stupid questions.

My God you are dumb. Considering you have a thousand posts I figured you would be somewhat intelligent. Just because people call something a "works bomb" doesn't mean you aren't using the word bomb seriously. You honestly don't think people watch over the information passed through this website? Shock has some of the most detailed chemical tutorials and advice on the web. Using explosive or bomb in a certain light invites irrational assumptions to the person's intention. The pyro thing is somewhat correct because you don't understand the inclination. Noting he asked about PVC and metal, you can easily pass off his intentions as a side to pyro activities, it doesn't have to necessarily involve fire to claim it involving pyrotechnic activities...You could say it is an effect you prefer.

Toilet cleaner mixes are childish when you are putting them in small plastic containers but when someone asks about mixing it with possible forms of aluminum in PVC and metal containers , you are then talking about something different than 6th grade science. That is all.

I've heard of these before could someone refresh my memory as to what it is or is this just bleach and aluminum?

I thought I saw something about airsoft in weaponry but I can't find now.

Because people call it a bomb doesn't mean you aren't . . . ?

What? What the hell does that say?

Sure, and anyone working for a watchdog group is probably smart enough knows what a "works bomb" is and that it's neither an explosive nor a bomb.

The fact that you think there's a difference to any oversite group between calling it an explosive and a "pyrotechnic" is laughable. Secondly, if you think pyrotechnic is somekind of code word - why would you say so on an open forum?

My god, you can't seriously be that stupid.
"It doesn't need to involve fire to be pyrotechnic"?

You do realize that the word "pyro" literally means "fire" right.

Your memory serves you well, all it is is drain cleaner and aluminum foil.

There was a post like that in the "Home defense" thread a long time ago.

works bombs are a stupid idea. the only reason they are even moderatly effective is because if you put shrapnel in it, it will do damage.... but they are technicly not explosives. a real explosive made from chlorine toilet cleaner is to find a bleach with soudium chlorate, or kno3 and add vaseliine. a shitload of vaseline in a pot. ratio 1 part bleach to 4 parts vaseline. warm/heat. detonate with a blasting cap at a SAFE DISTANCE!!
