One issue I've seen thus far is that the Announcements forum link (on the main page) sends you to a sub-forum index for Announcements - where the only link is to that same page. You can't actually view the Announcements forum at this time.
The only reason I'm able to read this thread is that it was the most recent post...

Is it possible to change the skin back to dark background with light text? Other than that, looks good. Especially the add rep/report post option.
Edit; oh, and larger PM inboxes would be nice.

Yeah, I liked the way the old forum looked too, but it still looks nice.
And is there a "new posts since last visit" part, cause that was nice with the old forum too.
Also, is there supposed to be a revenge/pranks forum? Cause there is one now.

That was a forum we had a long time ago, but it was shut down due to the stupidity of some of the posts that were made - in addition to the repeatedly posted flawed ideas. |

Also, there's no mod forum. I'd ditch signatures altogether, although I used avatars to identify members as much as I did their username.
And I just noticed I can't mod the P&M section. And X? You might want to revise who got appointed site administrators. There seems ti have een a serious slip there.

Yeah this has been a long time coming. OK. A lot of the "member titles" are saying "Site Admin" although that is purely cosmetic, and SHOULD be fixed after i rebuild the titles (doing now). Yes avatars are a prob. i think a setting is wrong am going to look into this. Light txt on black background? ok, if that is what the general consensus wants i'll try out some different skins until we all find one we like. Consider revenge and pranks offline. Just doing that now. Moderators. Yes thanks headcase, i know about that. i'll be reinstating moderators on a request basis. if any extablished moderators have recommendations please PM me. i'm on every day at the doing some seriosu work so i'll definitely be in touch.

At this point i've turned off all signature links and images just to squeeze every little bit of load time out of the site. Also during the initial stages of spidering its important that no outbound links get looked at, even with nofollow added (for all those that want to suggest that). I know there will be people that claim thats rubbish etc etc but thats what all the research on the current state of search marketing plus many years of experiance has shown. Anyways. Will look at sorting out images and links in sigs at a future date but for now its just plain text.
Looking at pushing a lot more traffic through from other sites and bits and pieces but would like to split up the forums into the old style, with individual sub-forums for appropriate areas of discussion. thoughts?

Loving the look now. Nice to hear about the Site Admins too. Hilarious as that would have been, it could have raised problems.
Um, on review, I can't tell the difference between sub-forums with new posts and those without. Or even threads with new posts in the sub-forums. I'm probably being fairly anal but I'd rather metion it while your here then complain about it after.

Not a lot will change. The on page optimisation seems to be a lot better, and I'm sure there're loads of vbulletin mods out there for just that purpose.
Rising in Google's SERPs depends primarily on how many other sites link back to you though. Maybe consider some link exchanges, submitting your sites to directories, publishing loads of articles on article directories etc. DigitalPoint's link building forum might be some use.

Well, going by my local google datacentre, my "backlink directed" SEO has landed me in the 4th to 6th spot (it fluctuates) for a particular keyword. That's out of a modest 6.3 mil results. Of course, the on site SEO is pretty spot on too.
If you'd like to debate this any further, we should probably do it via PM or your super secret forums.
