Given that users usually don't get to see the reasons for certain actions, we decided to have a thread in which we explained why threads were deleted, members banned and any other action we deem of relevance to the wider population.

Up to right now, these are the bans in force (not inculding spambots);

DiphHead - banned forever - for being Midian.

Marley94 - 722 days remaining - racism and stupidity.

Midian - 79 days - Nutmeg

Oliv897 - 2 days - aimless questions, no reasearch done, bullshitting (I drink 20 bottles of vodka).

Meanwhile, I deleted the thread that caused Oliv's banning in which he just asked for "some drugs I can smoke" (weed?) and told us about his epic alcohol tolerance (read; inability to buy alcohol at 11 years of age).

Another notice; being able to ban users for as little as a day allows for a little more indiscrimination. Keep that in mind next time you decide to forgo the search button.

I banned money_dude9669 for two weeks for repeated infractions culminating with this thread.

AnarchyisKing was banned for 6 months for trolling threads with groundless arguements and flaming. Although in hindsight I'm starting to think 6 months was a little harsh. We may review the lenght.

We've decided we should also mention when we give out warnings and infractions so people know what to do and, more relevantly here, what not to do. I will most likely forget this a lot of the time but better something than nothing. And it's not retrospective; I will not be listing infractions issued before now. Members who recieve infractions are informed of the reasons in a message associated with it.

Thelonepiper got another infraction for racism without arguement, that makes two infractions and one warning for him. I have a good feeling about his prospects. He really seems to like me too, judging by this PM he sent me;

Haha, so it was a remark aimed towards black people. I looked over it as the title gave the impression that he was talking about hanging the KKK.

Hmm, now that you mention it, maybe it was. That probably wouldn't have earned an infraction. Mention of "hanging" in a thread on racism is not usually a sign of tolerance but I suppose if he tells me that's what it meant I'll see if I can rescind it.

I don't quite understand either question.

There was a post reported in the Mod Section that clarified thelonepipers position. He did in fact suggest we "turn black people into fruit and hang them". Seems he passed up an opportunity to make me eat my words. Oh well.

Meanwhile, he got himself banned by Random for a week, for the same post I believe.

It had occured to me a few weeks ago that you might be walking a thin line, S7@1T3D, but since then the notion has passed. It takes a standard like raiden654 to quickly force our hand or repeated and avoidable infractions to work one up over time (in which case it'll probably be a week, then a month, then 6 months/permanent).

If you have reliable evidence that suggests a banned member is making efforts to circumvent that ban, contact a moderator directly with any such evidence. Not the best idea to make that information public.

I concur since Publicly it would stand to reason that many of the creative people would go about having many accounts and becoming more problematic or so the theory suggests.

Just so people know, I'm abroad on holiday at the moment (Berlin, it's nice, cheap drink, great clubs - spent last Saturday in Panorama/Berghain - amazing), and as such intend on having nothing to do with the forums. This is the first look in I've had in 6 days and probably the last for the next 7 or 8. Try to hold yourselves together in the meantime.

Corporal Punishment was banned for a week for constant bitching and blantent disregard for clear instructions. The ability to spell does not exept members from the rules as applied to everyone else. Let that be a warning to a lot of people.

Gah, how does 8am to 9pm sound? When you have to wake up at 5am and get home at 10:30pm? Thanks to the lazy builders that's what I have to put up with for this week.
