Yes they can. Probably wasn't the best idea to post this in General Discussion though.

Hm, I suppose this forum is fine. Now as far as fingerprints, it's rare when they actually are able to lift a good enough finger print for comparison, so I wouldn't worry too much if you've done something questionable without wearing gloves. And if you're trying to avoid leaving them, make sure you wear gloves. It's that simple. Now I suppose you could try removing them... There have been convicts who have been successful in removing the prints off the tips of their fingers, but have still been caught due to the fact that the prints extend down the length of the finger. So basically, unless you really wanna go to work on the entire pad of your hand with acid or fire, you wont be removing them. So if your hobbies require it, get a nice pair of gloves which dont limit dexterity. Hope that helps alittle.

Some tell me about liquid bandaid, however it comes off after a short period. So apply right before you go in.

Band-Aid'd probably work too, but if it's a crime serious enough to warrent a check for finger prints, I don't know if I'd trust it. It's be under constant manipulation and duress.

If you put a print on your glove before you touch something, it may transfer the print. It happens more often than you'd think.

That's more easily overcome though. Put on some liquid Band-Aid then put on your gloves. Now we're on to something.

thanks for your input, reason i asked is because i read that gloves dont necessarily prevent a latent print....i was curious as to the science of that, i mean, how can a print be left on paper thru say cotton gloves?

i also read that latex gloves were best..?
