Rep Power: 0 | | Rock? Is it dead to you people? Only thing I ever see mentioned on this forum is Metal and Rap. Haven't you guys listened to the stuff back when it took true skill to play? The Eagles, Billy Joel, REM, Sting, Steely Dan, and Jimmy Buffet to name a few. I mean the 60s-Ultra-Early-80s were the golden years of rock. Someone out there must like it more than the bullshit that inundates our radios nowadays.

I would suggest that most of the forum's members weren't even alive in the eighties; forget the seventies or sixties. They grew up with their boy and girl bands and mediocre love songs referred to as "pop", and they're now in their rebellion phase, and have started listening to rap and metal (and even then, it's the modern type of each, not how it used to be). I'll offer a handful of respect to any member who even knows who those six artists were (without doing research).
I'm afraid that music is only going to continue its downhill slide...

Rep Power: 0 | | Cmon, i'm only 16 and i know who all those guys are, well except for steely dan, and althought they are not my favorite musicians/bands, they have some good stuff. Give us younger guys some credit not everyone i our age group listens to rap metal crap. I don't think I even know any guys my age that enjoy listening to the boy band shit, thought they probably wouldn't admit it. |

Rep Power: 23 | | It's not really my thing, but I do like a few of the Irish groups. Thin Lizzy were unbelieveable. Horslips had their moments, Trouble With a Capital T, An Dearg Doom and The Man Who Built America, for example. I'll presume you know who Thin Lizzy were (and I'd be right, right?). |

I do love my metal though.

Rep Power: 0 | | Yeah, not too many people know Steely Dan. I got a "best of" album and there rhythm and instrument-choice is great so I listen to them.
14-year-old rebels? Hehe, I'll leave it to you to check that age thread for mine. I'm smarter than the idiots that infest this forum like roaches under a fridge, though.
REM is probably my second-favorite next to Billy Joel. REM's got some great messages in their songs. Billy Joel just has skills, though his interlude into political songs was pretty annoying (however funny "We Didn't Star the Fire" might be).
On another note, who here thinks a true fan would want a shirt that references a song only fans would know instead of "X Tour X year"?
I'd love to get a shirt that says "What's the frequency, Kenneth?" or "It's OK people, I've got my Orange Crush"

Not all members do. Unfortunately, it's the troublemakers that stand out, not the respectable members.
And again, calm down. My posts aren't always about you - I'm scared if you're that in love with me that you think my posts are always about you...

Rep Power: 0 | | It seems like listening to alot of rock music comes ignorance.
Steely dan was a fuckin pioneer in "rock" music. Many artists were influenced by them EVEN Metal bands. All music relates to each other.
I prefer everything. I'll play some Elysia then want to listen to some state property and after that i'll put on some Armin Van buuren or tiesto. It's all about expanding myself and being able to listen to whatever genre i want. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I'm raised on the good stuff, Stranglers, Lou Reed/Velvet underground, Boston, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Van(SP?), Grand Funk, Frank Zappa, B52's, Skinnard.
I wasn't much for 80's music, but I can remember Twisted Sister, Montley Crue(Still kicking), Iron Maiden, 20/20, Iggy Pop/Iggy and the stooges.
But Rock is eternal bitch, if you disagree with me, you're wrong, and you suck. |
