In no particular order;
Tarantino is a little over-rated. Jackie Browne was rubbish and I didn't really like the Kill Bill movies. And there was no real talent involved in the Hostel movies, they were just snuff films. That said, Pulp Fiction is probably the best film ever and Resevoir Dogs was fantastic in a unique way. The guy who cut the cop's ear off was one of the more believeable bad-guys I'd ever seen.
As much as I express my dislike on comic-book movies, V for Vendetta was unreal. It'd probably take my No.1 spot of it were just a little less of a comic book.
American Beauty, which demonstrated perfectly how an involving stpryline and character will always outdo pretty graphics by a million miles.
OldBoy which is sort of a cross between V for Vendetta and American Beauty in that it has great characters, a great storyline (if a little far-fetched at timed; like the end), but still violent and vengeful without relying on heavily on it's graphics. That corridor fightscene is probably the greatest I've ever seen and fucks graphics in the ass every time. It's also in Korean, with subtitles (hopefully).
Given that Azrael already mentioned The Holy Grial ("On seconds thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. Tis a silly place") I have to mention The Life of Brian. They're head and shoulders above both other Monty Pythons films and they're both eternal classics.
City of God; keeping up with the foreign films, this shot in Rio about a Brazilian photographer living iin the slums dealing with the gangland mentality. I've never been to the Rio slums, or Brazil, or South America, but it certainly has a realistic feel. Fantastic film. Spanish (?) with subtitles.
La Haine; like City of God but based around three friends from the Parisian banlieues. One of those films where nothing much happens but the great characters and great dialogue makes it an amsterpiece. It's shot in black and white but given that most (all?) of the film occurs over the course of one night it just adds to the gritty realism.
I'll come back when I think of more.

City of Gods- Fantastic film, loved it all.
300- What can I say? I like action, and half this film was action.
Rollin' with the Nines- Love it, close film to me.

Good thing you were not around to hear our professor's references about 300... As an emerging historian, I must reluctantly agree to him on the level of historical accuracy
My personal favourites are The Matrix and Equilibrium - a decent storyline, lots of action, awesome special effects and most of all, lots of dudes and babes in black trenchcoats and combat boots.
Now the worst movie I have EVER seen is probably 10000 BC - the cast is terrible, storyline even more lame and most of all, the director's knowledge of ancient history and geography is below that of a 4th-grader. It is just so bad it's actually good.

Michael Madson. He was the crazy guy in Reservoir dogs.
I just about shit myself at the greatness of the new batman movie. It was that good.
Ironman was cool too, that was the last thing i ever did with the most amazing girl in the world. So its hard for me to watch.
Waking life is a mind expanding movie.
Star Wars of course,
LOTR was pretty awesome too but i am a nerd when it comes to that.
The old indiana jones movies were the best but the new one was tripe. I mean come on! He survived a nuclear blast in a damn refrigerator!
I will think of some more.
EDIT:King arthur: "Look you stupid bastard you got no arms left!" The Black Knight: "Tis but a flesh wound!"

In no particular order:
Requiem for a dream: Amazing film, even better as a book, no film has ever left me so emotionally tired and genuinely devistated as this, Incredible, and the way the music is tracked is superb.
Pulp Fiction: What can i really say, brilliant, i'm not the worlds biggest tarrantino fan but it's a great film and he scored high in my book with this.
Death proof: Okay, I know i said I wasn't a tarrantino fan but i gotta say, i loved this film, even though it was a complete fan wank!
Die hard 4.0: Brilliant no brainer action flick, im a fan of the entire franchise though. John Mclane is a good character, nobody but willis could've pulled this off.
Kidulthood: If you haven't you need to see this film. Perfect!
Jeff Buckley: Amazing Grace: If you read my music post, this one will be a bit obvious, It's a documentary BTW.
These are just a few, i'm sure i'll remember more

Aliens (Special edition) still rates as one of my favourites.
Troy, simply because of the fight choreography.
Die Hard (original).
The Prestige. Awesome movie.

I will try to avoid quoting everyone as there are obvious common favourites in tarantino-movies.
To say a few yet to be mentioned:
- The Thirteenth Warrior: Screenplay sucked to the point of tears but it's on my list for the sole fact that it's the only Hollywood-appearance of Danish wrestler Asbjørn Riis, and one of very few Hollywood-films taking the time to replicate actual Nordic language.
- O, Brother Where Art Though?: Due to its general mood of the John Steinbeckesque America.
- Wayne's World, 'cause those movies make everyone feel good about being a complete loser. (like the video for a Weezer-song)

I see a lot of people posting various movies, but not explaining why they're on their list of favourites. To those who have posted and haven't offered explanations - what about those movies makes them so great?
Personally, I feel that one thing which is guaranteed to make a film memorable, is its score. For those who aren't entirely sure what that is, on that same page is a list of well-known orchestral film scores, some of which may jog your memory.
Films that I find memorable and enjoy based upon their scores include (in no particular order): - Black Hawk Down (1) (2) (3 - and headcase gets slapped if he hasn't already heard this one...)
- Saving Private Ryan
- Apollo 13 (1)
- Starship Troopers (1)
- the Indiana Jones movies (1)
- Jurassic Park (at a stretch...) (1 - the full film, the well-known part of the score doesn't happen until after 16:30)
- the Bourne Identity movies (though I haven't seen the third one)
- 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later
- Requiem for a Dream
Alternatively, I enjoy films based upon the quality of the acting, the storyline, relationships between characters, and on occasion simply how much violence and blowing-shit-up there is. Many of the films in these lists have already been mentioned (the first Kill Bill movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the first two Matrix movies (I still haven't seen the third one), Equilibrium, Lord of the Rings (face it, it was put together brilliantly), the Die Hard series (not too keen on the 4th film), the Boondock Saints), but there's a few here that haven't yet been mentioned...
- Tears of the Sun
- The Man Who Sued God (a brilliant comedy, though it's an Australian film - not sure how widely it was distributed)
- The Punisher (the recent one, haven't seen the earlier one)
- The Fifth Element
- Man on Fire
- We Were Soldiers
Anyway, that's a start for you...

OOOOOOH, I have one.
Borat - Culteral Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan
Sacha Baron Cohen is a fucking genious. He doesn't so much make fun of people, but gets them to make sun of themselves. He's brilliant at exposing people's ignorance.
Plus, its fucking hilarious.

How could I forget!? That film (and former series) are my favourite type of comedy, I loved when he attacked the self-defence instructor with the "jew-claw" and when he talked an estate agent into saying something racist about the "chocolate face man".

As much as I think Ali G is hilarious, the movie was a pile of wank...
