Need help from the Dutch

(Posting this in both drugs and general, don't go apeshit, I'm a supermod)

Me and a friend are thinking of opening a coffeeshop in Amsterdam.

Just small at first, selling a bit of weed and playing some nice music, but then as the money rolls in, expand in a number of directions:

• Ambient room at the back for...
  Mushrooms
  Salvia/LSA/Herbal stuff, like a dutch smartshop
  Prostitutes upstairs (I've not seen a shop combine the two?)
  Live DJ sets
  A licenced bar
  Online shop for seeds, pipes, salvia, etc

We've actually put a lot of thought into it and there's a few things we'd like to find out about which we could REALLY use some help with.


We were thinking of growing our own weed on the sly in secret, but I understand growing pot gets you in serious trouble in Holland?

Where do coffeeshops find people willing to sell a lot of pot? What kind of people are they - Hard bastards, or pretty laid back about it?

What're the specific laws involving coffeeshops? Do we need a licence, even though cannabis is illegal? Same for shrooms?

Are we likley to get our heads kicked in due to competition from other shops/pimps? If so, what're the self defence laws over there? Can you shoot someone in the leg, punch them, use a bat or nunchaku?


Any other information on the above would be fantastic. Also, what do you dutch people think makes a good coffeeshop? PLEASE take the time and effort to make a sensible reply?

Anyway, I'm no expert, but I know that anything over the counter is perfectly legal - but behind the counter is illegal. So, you can sell as much pot as you want to people in the shop, but your supplier might get busted on the way over to give you some stock.

Also, bad vibe on the whores. Who wants to hear headboards and stuff creakin upstairs when you're trying to have a smoke :P

Where else can you smoke a J and get laid at the same time? Also, feee joint with every hooker? Fantastic marketing.

As far as floorboards, I'm sure we could work something out. Floating floor, etc. Wouldn;t be too hard to engineer a noisless solution.

And the whores would come in a lot later. We're gunna get established as a proper shop first.

Oh and coffeesh0p.com will be online soon, as a headshop for the UK, Holland and a place to get salvia and other herbal stuff in the US where bongs are illegal. Also general info on the project, drugs discussion, etc. See'f we can't get some funds together to make the venture a bit less of a financial burden.

Well, I wish you the best of luck, but I dont think you'll be getting a coffeeshop in Amsterdam. The place has been developed for hundreds of years, and very few places are for sale. You would probably have to develope on the outskirts, and still it would take considerable capital. Try your hand at that online store though. That sounds like it'll do well.

ALthough I said there that the site would be a future expansion, I felt that would be the best thing to do first to raise funds.

So i think a site is the best way to get started, gets the word out the fastest

yes, and it requires less capitol.. if you synch, cuz you can code already.... shops require mega money just to get the place for a month, then all the stock to buy

its like my audio installing..
been going since summer last year done 3 customers up till xmas ive now during the last week pulled in another 3 customers... and also distribute different ranges of equipments from amps to speakers. to equalisers... its amazing whats happened for me this year, im grate full.

Synch, id say get the online shop going well, because that'd be almost guaranteed to make some cash, and from the leftover cash from that, you can save up to get that coffee-shop with attitude going.
