H.R. 6257 - Assault Weapon Ban Re-authorization Act of 2008

H.R. 6257: Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 (GovTrack.us)

This proposed Bill severely attacks our 2A rights. Even more restrictive and specific than the original expired Bill.

The one introduced in 2007 H.R. 1022 was even worse. It had no support as well. Its a desperate attempt by some dusty old ladies to push the only style of legislation they have had any success with in their own anti-gun states.

The original 1994 bill only passed because they watered it down to gain support, and a lot of dems who thought it was political suicide were convinced by clinton that gun owners would not vote them out of office. Aslo it slipped bellow rader as a "ride along" on the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. Senator Dianne Feinstein and McCarthy of New York are the biggest pushers of any AWB. McCarthys version would ban 65 models of firearms, as opposed to the previous ban's 19 models

When McCarthy was asked by Tucker Carlson, since she’s so worried about weapons with barrel shrouds, could she at least explain what a “barrel shroud” is. Not only did she have no idea what it was, she replyed "it’s a shoulder thing that goes up’".
Hot Air Blog Archive Video: Carolyn McCarthy doesn’t understand her own gun-control legislation McCarthy tucker video.

These AWB bills seem to be designed to not attract support from anyone.
