Rep Power: 0 | | Breaking into a house I read a few of the threads about breaking in and didn't really see much on how to do this..
Ok this house is actually an apartment room within a pretty dumpy building. It has a lock on the door handle and a deadbolt. The wall next to the door looks like shit.. but the lock itself looks new.
Any ideas? The person said that its easy to break into a house around there with a bent knife.. thats why the person added a dead bolt.
So help?

Rep Power: 0 | | Number of potential solutions to this.
Is there a window or another door w/o a deadbolt? Try that.
If the wall looks flaky try kicking the door in.
Drill a hole in the door and try to push the actuator back with a screwdriver (this method only works if the deadbolt doesn't have a metal housing inside the door).
Get a hole saw (4 1/2" if you have big hands) and cut a hole in the door.

Rep Power: 0 | | Deadbolts are often pick only jobs, but it depends on the door type, is there a wood line preventing thin objects from going in? If not, get a sturdy screwdriver (skinny enough to go in the gap, but won't bend) and a hammer, and hope you can smash the deadbolt with one to two swings, if you do it with more luck than skill the deadbolt will be too short to lock the door now. Though it's noisy and leaves evidence of vandalism.
So in other words, a set of picks are the only silent, Harmless way in. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Well the building is dumpy as shit.. the door is ratty as fuck. The door handle is old and the lock on it is too. The deadbolt is pretty old but not as bad. I was hoping I could just shimmy it open or pull back the deadbolt.. Im not sure how any of that shit works though.

Rep Power: 0 | | That is possible but how does the door open? Do you pull it to you or push it away when it's opened? The crack may be wide enough to shimmy.
But that usually takes too long. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Bumpkeys normally work pretty fast once you get the hang of em and you can make a good one in about 30 mins. I ordered a few from bumpkey.us and they work well. |

Rep Power: 0 | | then go during the day. no matter witch way you go there is risk of beeing seen. and you dont have to break glass to get through a window, it can be done almost silently. |

They don't expect a burglar to come through there. By the way, shadow, do you know how to break a window silently? I know I've read it's possible, in a fictional book, but just wondering if you know how to do it.

Rep Power: 0 | | if you cover the pain of glass with rubber cement it helps, or cover it with duck tape then break it, but i dont think it will be completly silent. however, you dont have to break glass to get throug a window, window locks arent that complex, i donk know wut the window looks like but im sure it cant be too hard to get past the lock and just open the thing. or like you said, if the windows open then it wont even matter. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Window locks are levers, plain and simple. Just look at 'em. Take a hand drill (yeah, those ancient things with the gears and the turning handle) and drill a hole in it, stick in a screw driver to push it out of the way and boom, open window. If they have a screen just slice it open.

Rep Power: 0 | | or wedge the two pains apart with a screw driver and take something long and skinny like another skrewdriver and push the lever out of the way. if it it the kind of window that slides up and down. that would be much quieter than useing a drill.

Rep Power: 0 | | Breaking a window silently is easy. It wont be entirely silent, but the noise reduction is huge. You simply tape the window in a criss cross manner and break it with a wadded hammer. The hammer is wadded so noise will be reduced. Just make sure the tape doesnt have your fingerprints on it. You should use rubber gloves, the kind surgeons use. (Two pairs over eachother in case a hole is torn in one pair) And as for covering your face, a commando mask is good. Before you do the job, you should have several escape routes you know of. Just in case you are discovered. And when inside, look for money, jewelry, digital cameras, basically small things that are worth money. You should have a backpack to keep your tools and stolen goods in. Dont stay for more than five mnutes. You should be done in less time preferably. With this in mind, dont be neat when you search the house. Throw shit on the floor, this is a much faster way of searching. And another thing, when on a job, you should dress differently than you usually do. And when youre done, dispose of the clothing. Preferably by burning. Just an extra precaution so noone will recognise you.

Rep Power: 0 | | Five minutes? kid your lucky that a silent alarm didn't go off when you where pulling a job. The police normally take four minutes to get there. At a max you should only do 3 minutes then get the phuck out. |

Rep Power: 0 | | i dont think an apartment in a dumpy building would have a silent alarm, but you can never be too carfull. 3 minuts is kinda short to search an apartment, but if youre looking for something specific then youre made. |

Rep Power: 0 | | have to disagree there shadow. You can work with 1 particular, trusted person. You trusts that person with your life. Its quite good as you can have a lookout, another person to carry equipment or loot, backup, another pair of eyes and ears. Another person can provide morale- and two heads are better than one.

Rep Power: 0 | | well there certantly is no shortage of douch bags out there, but i alwase go alone and do just fine. all the tools i need i keep in my pack. and thats where all the loot goes, at best i might get a third more loot if i had an extra pair of hands to carry it but in the end id lose a fourth of what i would of got if i just went alone when i split it with the guy. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I have been thinking of breaking into a house. There is a road with houses on both sides. And there is huge bushes growing around the houses there so noone can see me when i break in. However, im afraid that the noise that comes when i break a window will alert the neighbours. If not going by window, whats the most silent way of entry?

Rep Power: 0 | | I made a club with a soft end. (Short iron pipe with a sock wrapped and taped around the end) I have my rubber gloves, my club, duct tape, and my backpack. I also have a commando mask. But do you think it would be better to wear sunglasses and a hood? Im ready to do it. But how do you find out if someone is home without drawing attention to yourself? Thats my only problem now.
