Rep Power: 0 | | ok, im sure nobody would be willing to do this, but im goign to give it a try. i have been trying to make my own "novelty" ID for a while now, but i have no decent template to work with. all i have to use is basic shit like an ok HP printer w/ scanner on it, scissors, computer, and some cheap butterfly pouch things i stole from officemax. i was wondering if anybody would be wililng to give me a template, prefably a Texas template, to work with.
i know of a person who has a PERFECT template for texas, as he got the template from DPS somehow.. he makes near perfect quality ID's for $150, they have holos, the black bar on back scans correctly an everything. but i really dont want to pay that much when i could maybe make my own, i just want one that is good enought to get into bars and stuff.
as i really dont need one to buy alcohol, because i already look like im 22 or so.
the only thing i have/use when i get carded is an old license that i took to and used a knife to scratch and alter some numbers on. but it looks pretty shitty, and no way will bars/clubs accept this. though most grocery stores, convienient stores and many times liquor stores (though, they actually look more carefully at it) accept it after a confused look at my card.

Rep Power: 0 | | For those who are wondering, middletown confirmed that the alps method doesnt work for the rainbow holos for some reason. He also confirmed however that the same principle DOES work for a stamp method, so as well as you can make a stamp you can make a very good rainbow holo.

Rep Power: 0 | | Hey Caliid, could you send me a pm on the alps method/thermal transfer method? Also I was wondering does a die cutter defeat the purpose of a butterfly pouch? I mean do you need a pouch slighter larger than the teslin id so that you actually have something to cut out? Right now I'm just using a pouch but would like to buy a die cutter and be able to have the teslin cut flush with the laminate. Any help would be awesome. |

Rep Power: 0 | | What's going on guys, I'm really fortunate enough to have found this website considering most forums have either been shut down( sc) or I just haven't been able to locate. I've been doing the id thing for a little while. Mass was the template I utilized and with that template I used the alps method. However recently I've come into possession of cali and illinois temps, so I was going to use those. Unfortunately my alps md-1000 has been acting up and I think its safe to say that I won't be able to use it this time around. Before purchasing the alps I tried the photo-ez method but I had no success, so I'm wondering what the thermal transfer process is? I'm hoping I don't have to purchase another alps and that this will be another technique to use. Thanks a lot for the help guys |

Would you be able to inform me about the thermal transfer method I read about? I'm assuming that its different from the alps method, and if this assumption is correct I'd like to hear about what goes into it. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I'm pretty new to this, and am trying to make pretty decent ID's with a limited up front payment. I've got about 500 bucks i can throw in. I've read pretty much the whole thread, and you guys have a wealth of knowledge...any of which you could pass onto me would be great.
For holo's i'm thinking a duo blue-green with interference gold. has anyone tried or had trouble mixing with the duo colors?
and...does hi-co or lo-co really matter all that much? from what i read its just shelf life and number of swipes that are different correct?
anyone heard of this artisyn paper instead of teslin? its cheaper but i'm skeptical. |

Rep Power: 0 | | thermal transfer When I do the Thermal transfer method I try to brush as much excess pearl ex off the transparency, but when I laminate it there is still tons that comes off other than what is supposed to be the hologram. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Am I laminating it too hot or what? Thx. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Thats the part that makes this method such a well kept secret. It only works if you know how to get rid of the excess powder on the transparency, which indeed makes or breaks this method. If you can figure out how to do it, this method is very valueble.
Mixing pearl ex is usually a disaster. It will usually just turn to a off silver color. It is impossible to do rainbow holos with pearl ex mixture, or get anything even close. The only way to do them with pearl ex is to use the diffraction film and stamp method discussed earlier in the forum.
Artisyn works much better than Teslin in every way. Colors come out 100% better. |

If your still looking for a CA temp, I'd be willing to trade for quality scans (front and back) of CA titles.

I'm gonna try the thermal technique and see what I can come up with. I'm assuming if you use a "shaker" when you apply the powder it might give you the right mixture and then brushing off the powder shouldn't be such a problems. By shaker I'm refering to a kitchen tool that you would find in a pizza store to shake red pepper on your pizza. I'm not sure time wise since I haven't used this process before, but I know with the alps method I waited 10 minutes and then ran it under water to get rid of all the excess powder. Perhaps that could be utilized after....30 minutes? My only question about printing on transparency is what color you use? I'm thinking black is a no no, however we will see. |

How do you change the print fill setting?
Update, I printed on the transparency and put some of the pearl-ex over immediatly , after letting it set for a little while and attempting to brush it off, I'm running into the same problem blackice is. I'm going to see weather or not water will help or not. I'll keep you guys updated on my progress. It's a shame we have to do it blindely but hopefully with all of us working together we'll be able to crack this mystery
