Hey im new here and i want to make a novelty new york id. The hologram is tricky however for those of you that have seen one. It is like a silver "sin x" math curve going horizontal across the license. And when u look strait on at it, it pops out like 3-D and when you turn it different angles different pieces of the sinusoidal pop out and appear to be 3-D Any suggestions on how to achieve this???

My plan is to use silver pearl ex because it is a silver curve. Then to imitate the 3-D or holographic illusions by mixing it with some interference gold pearl ex just so it adds another dimension when you turn the id.

I'm thinkin of using an iridescent base on michael's arts and crafts website to mix my pearl ex in....however i have no idea if this is possible and will work out. They say that iridescent mediums produce some type of "glow" effect.

Again i would like any recommendations on how to produce the New York Hologram. And also can someone recommend a base/medium to use?

Also the NYid is not made out of that PVC material and therefore you cannot laminate one with a machine(i think)..... its surface is kinda dull and ruff kind of like cotton paper....(but cotton paper doesnt work that well to print on)

...So to achieve the outer layer effect i plan on printing onto glossy photopaper to get best quality print then use Folk Art Acrylic Matte Sealer you can find on AC moore website and spray that on it to protect color and hopefully mimic the outer covering of the real id.

This is all ideal and i dont know if it would work....can anyone comment on this or provide a better way to achieve such results?

Well introfook, what i did was, i scanned a nys id into my computer and then photoshopped everything that i needed to. I didnt rebuild one just edited one.

And pinc can u give for information about what the 3m secure card is and where i can buy one and how to use it?

Just did some research...doesnt seem like the 3m secure card is something you can buy. Hopefully i'm wrong and there is an easy way to obtain it however if not, does anybody know how to imitate the appearance of one?? Does not matter about all the security features it has, im just wondering if there is a way to imitate its appearance.

i have been trying to replicate the TEXAS holo for a couple weeks now. i bought the UV powder along with the brilliant gold pearl EX... i print it on the transparency and then powder it on and all that... but when i laminate the trans sheet the powder is not coming off well onto the 7mil laminates i bought... any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

DTC and HDP printers are available with add-on Lamination modules. The Lam Mod's use proprietary lamination film.

What are any options for applying overlaminate film to PVC cards if it is not the type that works in your printers PVC card laminator?

You cannot use a standard pouch laminator.

Does anyone know of a PVC card laminator?

Why can't you use a standard laminator? All it needs is the proper heat applied with pressure...unless your talking about an overlam I'm not familiar with, but I just us high security over lams...not the cheap kind and send it right through your standard laminator

sometimes you will get air bubbles doing it that way. im sure it works though coming from you SFB. i just have never tried it. i have only heard of high pressure laminators performing this task. i hope you got a fat bank roll for one of these babies... check the link

For a TX hologram getting a simple rubber stamp is pretty damn good way to go. You can mix the PearlEX and UV powder and apply it directly to Teslin/Artisyn dry. Then simply laminate and die cut. It works really well.

I'm new to this whole fake id business, to be honest I have very little knowledge on what to do, materials, etc. Is there anywhere that I can get a step by step guide on doing it? Also, I'm pretty good with photoshop since ive been in a computer graphics class in school for the past year, so i think that i can make a pretty decent template, but my problem is getting a scan of a clean (meaning not dirty) license in the first place. Would anyone have eithera template or at least a startign scan of a license (preferably NY, NJ, PA, or CT) that they can send me? I dont know how i would be able to reimburse anyone but anyone who can help i'll be open for bargaining.

i'll be honest i have almost no experience with barcodes but i am very good with photoshop...need to know how to create pdf 417 barcodes that would scan...hypothetically of course. what order does your information appear in? any help would be useful. thanks.

Anyone know how to duplicate the California security lines? They're not straight lines, they're like circles of different sizes and colors and they're interwoven throughout the face of the id.

there are software prog's and plugins that write in pdf417 format. Search google and you will find lots.

what thickness lam is a CA DL?

1up teslin laminated between a 10mil magstripe pouch seems a little bit too thick. would a 7mil lam would be more suitable?

Phil8- I'm assuming you mean pearl ex interference gold? its available everywhere, you should be able to find it at any art supply store

borderlineabsurd- If you want to make a cali temp and do it right then its slightly complicated. You need Photoshop cs2 or higher to make circular paths. If your familiar with photoshop then just use the ellipses shape tool (hold shift to make perfect circles), make sure at the top of the screen it is set to "paths" and NOT "shape layers." You want a new layer for each color and size of circles that you use. Then set the paint brush to the size of line you want. Now go to the layers pallet and hit the paths tab, right click on which ever path you want, select "stroke path," make sure to select paint brush in the pop up box, and press ok. This whole process is diluted for you and its hard to explain so i suggest that you mess around with photoshop for a while (specifically layers and paths) before you try replicated the security lines.

by the way....for those of you who use pearl ex interference gold to produce holograms, what medium to you use to mix the pigment in?? Also, what methods do you use to apply the finished pearl mixture to the ID for the best hologram effect. Please be specific.

I wouldn't waste my time with #fakeid unless they have changed in the last three years. Last time I was there I talked maybe 5 lines about ID there and one of the ops there told me that was the most ID talk in the channel in the past year.

So I'm trying out the thermal transfer method to get my Cali holos onto the butterfly pouches. First, I print out the holo at like 30% and sprinkle on the interference gold. then I let it dry for like 10 mins, and use compressed air to take out all the excess pearl-ex.

I'm having trouble with the step after this. So do you guys just feed the butterfly pouch with a strip of transparency (with the holos) into the laminator, and peel apart the butterfly pouch again? I feel like this can't be the right way... the laminator presses all the empty parts of the pouch together, so it looks shitty when peeled apart.

from what I hear, it's nearly impossible to make a perfect new york. i simply wouldn't bother...go with a massachusetts one instead, or some other state close by.
