Hi all. Newb here. I'm just about done with an Ohio temp with layers built in Pshop. I was wondering if anyone would volunteer to take a look at it, critique it, and give me any other tips about improving it.

Also, in a best case scenario, someone could give me more assistance in actually making it real......

thanks in advance

I need feedback on a method. The project I am working on is comprised of a PVC card with the standard graphics lithographed and the users information is then printed on the underneath of a 1 mil overlaminate.
The ink is silver-grey and it really stands out on the card, well above the background graphics. It seems to be color shifting ink as well as it goes from dark grey to silver as it is moved back and forth.
HDP and DTC printers cannot reproduce this effect, the font is obviously printed the same way as the background and doesn't stand out at all.
I recently posted a method whereby the data that is to be in silver ink is printed in reverse via inkjet printer on a transparency on the best setting. It is allowed to dry for ten minutes and then held against the PVC card with the b/g graphics and basically rubbed on from the transfer to the pvc card.

Anybody got experience with this?

Anyone have "Suprexy Font" that they can upload to me. I will give them the TXP source.

Or if anyone has the current CA temp. Not the older one with the picture of the left side.

Default alternative to PVC cards

What kind of alternatives are available to replicate PVC cards?

There is a huge drawback with DTC and HDP printers, as they can only produce 300dpi. This is pretty crappy considering a good HDP is a few grand and can't provide microprinting, quality graphics, etc.

The SOP for the PVC based id's are pre-ordered cards with the standard background graphics including microprinting supplied to the issuer who uses lithography. Then the applicants data/picture is printed via HDP and it's done. There is a transparent holographic overlaminate applied in the end process along with 2-d user specific barcore, mag stripe encoding and it's complete.

I would like to know if there is other ways to reproduce PVC w/mag stripe cards. This would allow use of better - high res printers and the ability to do microprinting

here is my thoughts on the sitiuation........

a noob was giving props to the vet. posters. they mentioned DB,cali, mr big etc... trying to kiss some ass. cali has a little dick.... so when he saw that, he states he dosen't want to be catagorized "with" me . and his reason for this must again be his small penis.... because he does NOT mention his reason for this. then little wanna be ripper VERIZON jumps on the ass kissing bandwagon and says" ya... i'll bash Mr big too", because i got a lot of hot air to blow and NOT money ,because i waist my time posting instead of making MO NOVS/MO MONEY!!!! if you made novs VERIZON you might actually be somebody. but since you just rip noobs .... your are a RIPPER/RAT SCUMBAG and thats a concrete FACT!!!!!

thanks for all that novelty id information Mr.Pig ...your contributions to the "community" have really been beneficial...maybe you shouldn't be PM'ing me asking for temps bc your laptop was stolen out of your trunk. fuckin lazy piece of shit, make your own. ps howd they open your trunk up anyway???? hmmm bullshit. i'll stop posting here the day you offer any help or knowlege to the "community" as you call it.

anyone ever tried to buy a fake id from me....waiting...still waiting....yup, nobody. Just like i thought.

@jimjam 300dpi in a dyesub pvc printer is the highest quality they produce. the dmv only has 300dpi printers. why worry about microprint when you can get a pvc printer that will put the UV right on the card? no worries and now headaches. any particular reason why you need microprint so bad?

Alright, one last step in the process.

What is the best way to overlaminate PVC? I dont need the PVC in a pouch, rather, with a piece of plastic laminated to one face of it. In fact, the covering should be smaller than the size of the card (so no overlap of the edges).

This is an easy one. Suggestions?

Hi all,

Finally got done reading all 58 pages. I am new to the 'novelty' production business, but I feel that I have a good start. I have the following items in my possession:

1. Fargo Pro-L - PVC Dye Sublimination/Resin Thermal Transfer Printer
2. HP C7180
3. PVC Cards

I wanted some insight on the Pro-L from other people. There is software available called SMART GUARD HOLOGRAPHIC PROGRAM which supposedly allows you to design and print custom transparent holographic images onto your plastic ID cards. The transparent SmartShield image is visable only when viewed at an angle or under an ultraviolet light source.

Here is an example of the capabilities of the printer coupled with the software:

Does anyone have experience with this? I am considering purching it ... that way the novelty ID can be done in one pass on the printer ... and I would have a high quality, hologoramed, scannable, and laminated ID within 60 seconds.

If the smart guard is not a viable option ... I was thinking of just printing out a PVC and then stamping it ... then running it through the machine again and laminating it , after about 30 minutes (dry time).

Opinions ... thoughts?[/img]

Also what PVC cards do you use when printing novs?
I bought 100 hi-co off ebay for 17 bucks ... but they appear to shiny and 'bright'.

Is there a matte version, or a more dull white color available?

This may be a really dumb question but, i'm looking at laminators for an ID. I'm looking at using Artisyn with a 10 mil pouch. Do you really need a 10 mil laminator? Most laminators i've seen are of the 3 mil or 5 mil variety. Do you really need to drop a ton of money on the 10 mil laminator, or can you get away with a 5 mil?

This may be a dumb question, but i would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions that someone might have for an inexpensive laminator.

Thanks

My friend and I just got into the novelty ID scene, we bought a Eltron P500, and are looking at an ALPS MD-1300. Anyone got tips for someone just starting out? Easiest states, etc. We would be grateful for any info, as well as software like PDFcenter. We're working on temps right now, and should have them done in a couple weeks.
