How come you are using uv carts rather than powder? I've heard that uv carts fade really quickly, is that true?

Well UV carts would probably be alot easier. I havnt heard of poeople having much sucess with powder. Have you tried powder? Can you recognize that the UV mark exists in regular day light?

This is the kind of thinking that gets you put in jail. It's the same as saying you make novelty IDs. It doesn't fly. It's not smart, and you need to figure out why on your own.

Don't do it, trust me.

Hey purplecheeser, maybe you should try a different brand of printer if the r800 is giving you trouble. I have been looking into the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 because it prints at 4800x2400 dpi, in both black and color. The r800 prints 5750x1440 in color, meaning it basically can't get over 1440dpi because after that it uses dithering to achieve higher resolution. Basically this means the canon has twice the resolution of the r800, and might, just might be able to do microprinting well because the r800 is close to achieving micro. Anyway the printer is about 500, so it's a little more than the r800 when new, but I'm gonna get one soon and compare it to the r800, hopefully yeilding brilliant results.

Also, the canon pro 9000 has 2 picoliter droplets, 8 cartridges like the r800, and a fuckload more printhead nozzles (6,144 nozzles, the r800 has 1440 nozzles), meaning bombski quality.

that sounds beautiful, ill check ebay, hopefully I can get it for around 300$ But yea, that epson was a pain in the ass. Literally I was trying to get it to print acurate colors for 2 strait weeks. Spend 80$ on new ink and about 40$ in artisyn. Ive opened some threads on photo.net asking for answers and they said I have to buy a ICC profile for artisyn, plus spend like 200$ on monitor calibration software for printing out of CS3. And im pretty sure everyone here is printing out of CS3 fine with acurate monitor to print color without doing all that.

When do you plan on using this new cannon?

**yea just checked ebay. New is ~300

I'll probably get it in a few weeks when I have the time to mess around with it and color adjust. There is no race against time for me as the r800 already does wonders. Plus I'm getting an offset press so idk really, but the cannon specs do sound sick.

I read on photo.net (which is by far the best photo/printing forum) and they say to not get the 9000 but to get the 9500. The 9000's ink is dye based which means the photos are likely to fade in a few months. Thats why to invest in the 9500 which is pigment. I dont know if this is of importance to you just FYI

What state do you work with any ways?

Yeah but the die based inks in the canon or so advanced it doesn't even matter. The photos it produces last 50 years anyway, and when they are not covered and completey exposed to direct light, it takes 10 years to fade. So why pay an extra 300 on a pigment based canon printer? I feel like it makes no difference for your application but look into it more, maybe the pigment based canon inks really do do justice for your needs? I primarily mess around with colorado, but also cali and texas.

Thank you General Grim. That's a point I have trouble making to a surprisingly large amount of morons. Anyways, back on topic: Yeah, I was having problems posting for a long while but now I can post too. I dunno if this is just me being optimistic, but it seems my hair grows faster during a period of high protein intake and high activity. Hair is protein, but I'm not sure how much protein intake will affect protein used in production of hair. Worth a shot... (can of tuna=16 grams protein thats a lot!)

I have been working on an IL template from scratch.

But i am going to scan a real ID onto photoshop soon and i was wondering how i could turn the scan into a layered template. Someone mentioned it way in the beginning of this thread and i would like some help with that.

And is there any hope in getting a template on this site from anyone? it seems like no one does that. Id lilke some templates to work with and check out so i can perfect my IL template, so please PM or let me know if i can get one of your templates. I will send you my IL one which should be done in a week. I will also send a scan of a real IL ID.
