The thermal transfer method. From what I understand you buy some transparent paper then print your hologram using a transparent yellow color then sprinkle your pearl-ex on it, remove the excess and attach it to your laminating butterfly or whatever you use and laminate it on "warm" setting.
Is this pretty much the method? all the posts here are fairly vague about it, hinting at each part or only mentioning one small part in detail so I just pieced them all together.
And finally, does anyone know of a place to find PDFCenter? I have been trying to find it everywhere and am having no luck. I tried B-Coder Pro, but for some reason have not been able to figure that one out yet and cannot get the barcode to be read correctly after I create it. I have already decoded a barcode, I am just trying to duplicate it and see if I can get the same reading by using the data values to re-create it.
Thanks in advance |
no, you spread pearlex on lam, put lam on a sheet and run it through an alps and print the holo on the lam using CLEAR tapes.

Rep Power: 0 | | I want to buy one legally. It having alot of trouble making uv carts. I decided to switch cartidge models and use the hp#45 which has an ink res and no sponge.
But my question is that can you buy a uv printer specifically for printing UV?

This is probably trash, but can't confirm that it doesn't work either? |

Rep Power: 0 | | Somebody was trying to sell me on this printer. Can anybody give me advice on if it's any good or not for PVC? Kinda seems like a decent deal since it has all the ribbons and stuff.
I'm gonna send him a question asking if he can do a picture of a test card to make sure it works. It's the only one I could find in canada :/ Fargo Pro LX ID Thermal Card Printer - (eBay.ca item 180304405204 end time 15-Nov-08 00:00:37 EST) |

Rep Power: 0 | | hey guys.. im new to this whole fake id thing, as i would usually get other people to get me my shit. but seeing as they have graduated and moved to college, i find that i could really use a fake id for me and or my friends. can anyone help me out to someone just starting? i cant spend money on templates or anything, and one of my friends has the right type of printer to print it out. i have tried to alter an id found on the web on photoshop, and nothing has come out too good so far. if anyone could post here or just email me at hockeykid998@hotmail.com, that would be great. | | damn barcodes

Rep Power: 0 | | Alps Print Method My question is concerning the alps method, I have never used an alps printer so I have some questions regarding the ability to print multiple layers onto laminate. My first question is, is there anything that keeps you from being able to directly print onto a full 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of laminate with a finishing cart as opposed to printing onto laminate pouches? the only tutorials I have read for using an alps is working with pouches but I have a die cutter and would prefer to print on full sheets. My next question is concerning doing UV with an alps printer, In theory would it be possible to take a finishing cart and print say 8 holos on one sheet of laminate then switch the finishing cart and print 8 UV patterns in one color of UV powder (say red) and then switch the cart for a third time and do an overlay of UV (say green) on top of the first layer and each time that I print a separate layer I would wash the laminate sheet off so as not to contaminate each individual cart. I have seen a novelty ID that uses UV powder and is invisible to the eye under normal light (I know its powder because when I hold it up to a high output light I can see the outline of the UV pattern, but once again it is invisible to the naked eye. If anyone has used an alps and can tell me problems that I would run into while doing this I would be interested to know.
Thanks again for the help.

The cart contains a clear ribbon which is heated an applied to whatever your printing onto. When making holograms this clear overlay is applied on top of the pearl-ex (or whatever your using) sealing it to your media. You would not need to switch carts to use different color powder; the powders are spread on the laminating pouch (or whatever media your using). | | | ************************************************** *********************

What are some things that are really hard to get for your novelty's from online sources? What materials would you like to see available to you on a website? A few things came to mind:
Exceptional UV cartidges
TXP
Transkote Nylon
Let me know what comes to mind...

Rep Power: 0 | | you couldnt have said it better purp. those are the only 3 things that im interested in. UV is first on that list. I got the invisible flouresent pigments from risk reactor, which are really nice, but Im looking for a way to perfect it. one color pass, is easy, but 3 is hard to do and get the pigment to stay in place and not mix into the other color. |

A lot of experienced "card makers" here I see - what are you recommendations for a good card printer? Got a max of £2k to spend and need over the edge printing. Looking at the Fargo HDP 5000 as this seems to do the job and Fargo seem to have a pretty decent rep but am wondering if there are any cheaper as-good alternatives I should be considering?
Seen one called a Zebra, think the model was P120i if I recall correctly, which is about half the price of the Fargo but haven't found out if it does over the edge printing yet and also if Zebra stuff is any good.
Any thoughts chaps?
Cheers. | |
