Rep Power: 0 | | Unfortunatelly I sold my alps about 2 months ago, so I didnt get to try this, but I am fairly certain it works for a 1-d multispec (which may or may not be good enough for Fl). Id rather not post it here, but if someone has access to an alps (db or anyone else) and would like to try it let me know. Ill even send a few supplies to find out if this works or not.

Good thread btw. |

Rep Power: 0 | | phoroh have you try using the ICC profiles that may have come with your printer?
hxxp://www.beresfordco.com has some software thats supposed to help color match fargo printers. If you don't feel like spending the cash you can print up a color chart, however don't print one off the internet as they can misrepresent color.

Rep Power: 0 | | Unfortunately the printer did not come with any software. It has a "Monitor" color management setting (as opposed to integer), but it has not provided any improvement. Is there a specific recommended resource available that goes through the process of making a color chart, or should I just go through Google? |

Rep Power: 0 | | If your using Photoshop, I made some CYMK color charts up a couple days ago. I can upload them if you want, but they would need to be resized to fit a cr80 sized area.

Rep Power: 0 | | NYS I'm wondering what can be used to simulate the front of the old NY State. I heard it is 6 Mil soft diffused crystal. I found a website that uses this description, "6 MIL Extremely aggressive adhesive and a tiny pebble pattern textured surface front suitable for a mousepad soft SuperStick SANDTEX textured low glare front and smooth matte back." Although, I am not sure if it is it. If anyone knows let me know. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Some good info in this thread just from db and caliid2006 talking back and forth.
My deliema is about the current Georgia hologram, I have no idea how to make copy the hologram to do all that convert to black, photo ez, pearl ex stuff etc. The other problems I'm having is I don't know which colors you would classify the Ga hologram as. I think Pearl Ex Super Copper is the right color?
When the hologram is not tilted it kinda looks like green but its just flat no shine.
When the hologram is tilted it looks an orangish color i guess you could call it copper, a buddy said its the standard hologram color.
Any help is much appreciated! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Middletown-- I have heard of people using 14 mil teslin for old NY, laminating only the back, and matte spraying the front to protect the ink and give it texture. I have only heard this though.

Rep Power: 0 | | Okay I got my hologram 'stencil' done, meaning got the words and then transformed it to black.
So know from my understanding of it I need to:
1st print out the 'stencil' onto a transparency
Then lay the transparency onto a photo ez and leave in the sun? Im confused as to which goes on top the transparency or the photo ez?
Now I'm confused as to how to get the interference red or whatever on the stencil or now photo ez.
Then I cut the hologram to size of the one on the ID and then i first laminate the card and then the card with the holo?
also do you need to get two sided teslin to do the front in and back or will the single side do? |

Rep Power: 0 | | Hmm... many people have advised against using Photo-EZ for creating custom hologram stencils. What do you recommend should be used instead? | | | |

Rep Power: 0 | | If your going to do the Photoez way. You put the black part down, then you put the photoez on the black part, then you put your transparency on top of the photoez, then you put the glass part on top of the transparency.
* <- Sun
---------- <-Glass
******* <- Transparency
++++++ <- PhotoEz
~~~~~~ <- Black Part Quote: |
Now I'm confused as to how to get the interference red or whatever on the stencil or now photo ez.
| Get a frame for your photoez you can pick these up at Michaels or AC Moore for a dollar or two. Then you mix your pearlex with something clear like woman's nail polish or that clear primer for model cars. Don't waste your time with Speedball as that looks like shit when finished. Then use the squeegee that you got to shove th
e mixture into the grooves and onto the laminate. Quote: |
Then I cut the hologram to size of the one on the ID and then i first laminate the card and then the card with the holo?
| You put the holo on first, on the part that is going to touch the teslin. Then you laminate. Quote: |
also do you need to get two sided teslin to do the front in and back or will the single side do?
| If your using an Epson printer with durabrite inks then you can use laser teslin, otherwise get the double sided.
@phoroh
Most recommend using an Alps printer. But its hard to find a good working one.
Rep Power: 0 | | So the 'black part' would be the GEORGIA that i just printed on the transparency on the ground then photo ez then ANOTHER transparency then i put all this in a 9x11 frame or whatever and then lay out in the sun? how long do i leave it out there?
also isnt there something about washing something or other after this is done? |
Rep Power: 0 | | No. If you bought the kit you will have a black cardboard like thing. If you didn't buy the kit you will not have the glass part nor the black part. The part that is labeled transparency is what Georgia is printed on. You don't need a 9x11 frame more like a 4x4 frame as you can cut the Photoez to size.
If you bought the kit there will be instructions, if you didn't there are many sites out there that will tell you know to use Photoez step by step.
Last question for now, the standard or hi res kit? |
Rep Power: 0 | | If any of the lines are smaller than 1 mm I'd go hi-res otherwise standard would be fine. Picking up a paint brush if you get the hi-res wouldn't be a bad idea either.
