Does anyone know how to encode a pdf417? I dont know what all I need to put. I am making a wisconsin one if it makes a difference. Also, to anyone who cant get PDFCenter to work, make a new folder somewhere else on your computer and then drag the pdfcenter files to that folder and try to run it from there. It worked for me.

im using serial. i have a serial to usb converter but i doubt itd make any difference. thanks for the reply, i really hope we can get it working because i like to have quality products

I would try it out cause i have a USB port and it works fine and the other guy i know has a serial and does not work.

Also, has anyone purchased from neomark before (besides baggs)? I just received my order of 6 UV colors and i need further help. If someone could help me who have purchased them before please let me know.

EDIT: Does anyone have any good red UV ink? It seems the one i received from neomark doesnt give off that much of a red color.

Question: i heard of someone going to a liquor store and when they show their ID the cashier types in numbers into a computer and it either gets accepted or denied.

Any ideas?

Yes. Two.

1. He is typing in the birthday (some POS systems just prompt for that).

2. He scanned the ID (it read over 21) and now he is typing in the DL# to confirm that the one on the card matches the one on the mag stripe. The reason for this is because back in the day people used to sell pouches "pre encoded" with birthdays over 21, which is all most POS systems look for in a scan.... the state guys got smarter though, so now some systems require the DL# check to make sure its legit... Its still very easy to circumvent this though- just make sure you encode the birthday AND the DL# on all your IDs... found on track 2 for California.

Some questions for you CALIFORNIA nov makers.


(first two questions only apply if you're using R800 + 7 mill glossy pouches)
1. What color code do you use for your orange bars at the top (pretty sure I use fbd51e although its not right in front of me)

2. What about color code for the security circles in the background? I want to note that I use the same colors for my circles as I do for my gold bars.

3. How do you guys round your corners? I feel like the corners of my NOVs and most other novs tend to be more sharp then the sexy wide corners of a real ID.

Most people use fine grit sand paper for finishing. i use a combination of sand paper and a heated glass surface to smooth and round the edge's, but then again you could always buy a corner rounder.

the best way to make a ID card is to not get perforated teslin nor CC butterfly pouches.. the best way to do it is make an oversized one and cut it out using a die cutter.. all problems will be solved.. you can get one on ebay for around 60.00 .. it is the best thing created.. a must have to be in this biz

Also I found a list of all the states that have magnetic stripes on their back. Now I want to figure out which states use the silver or gold holograms instead of the multicolor spectrum. if you look back earlier in this thread you will see that "The Ultimate Guide" including alot of templates and other information for novs was posted.. download that and it will give you something to work with.


also does anybody in here know why when i use my matte spray on my teslin it dries white in some areas?

hey guys, ive been makin some california ids and they scan through the magnetic strip and all but one of my friends used it and the bouncer scanned the barcode (not the mag strip) and it wouldnt show up any of the required info. what does it contain? how can i scan my real id and decode the barcode? thanks for your help bshock, always can count on you

Damn, thats very VERY interesting. Do you mind my asking where they scanned the bar code? Thats the first time I've ever heard of anyone besides LE scanning a bar code.

i don't know if its any help but i read the bar code from the cali in the official nov guide and its a code 128 and read "1102080026666666"

they scanned it at a bar in boston. the magstrip came up fine but there was not any sort of result for the barcode according to my buddy. in my cali template i used the one from the ultimate guide but i dont know what the translation of the barcode means. thanks for the help guys

well if you have a real one then look for similarities in the code and your info, like DOB.. etc

The pdf417 code hold every piece of information seen on the front of the id (except the picture), nothing more, nothing less.

FYI I just got my epson pvc trays I ordered from China. If anyone wants to buy one let me know. They work on an epson r280. You can basically print on pvc cards with it. I also got a lot of inkjet pvc cards.
