Default credit card suggestions....

lets say someone was able to order a credit card under someone elses name.
the address they used to order the credit card was their own.

they managed to obtain the credit card under someone elses name.

now that person was a naughty boy and decided to use the card but not repay, he also wanted to stop debt collectors coming to his address.

would it be possible that once that person has the card, phone up the company and tell them you are moving houses.

then once the address is changed the person can use the card.

will the card company have any record of the address the card was sent ? which address would the debt collectors visit ?

so basically what im saying is that is it possible once this credit card has arrived(under someone elses name). you then phone the company and change the address.

would the original address (the one that the card was sent) , would that address be left alone ? would they harass it ? would it be blacklisted or whatever ?

It would be kept on their system. If all you had to do to confuse a credit card company was call them up and say you've moved, a lot more people would be doing it. A better bet would be use the card, and when that authorities come to your address, deny any knowledge of it. It's not under your name, who's to say you have the card? Although in that case you'd be better off getting it sent to a PO box.

thanks for your reply.

yes i also thought it will most probably stay on the system. do you think the authorities would pay the previous address a visit ?
obviously as you said its under another name so someone can pretend he doesnt know and someone else may be responsible for this fraud (the postman )
but in order to stop debt collectors harassing that address he can just change it and they would go after him at his other address.

also if the amount was around £300 , do you think card companies would be bothered ?

They will always be bothered, regardless the amount of money.

Chances are the credit will need some proof of the change of address. If you provide this, then they'll know you have the card (because you corresponded with them. You wouldn't notify them of a change of address if you didn't have their credit card.) So really, that's not a great option. You probably can't provide proof of change of address to begin with.

If you do manage it, as soon as the authorities resalise the new address is a fake, they'll certainly check the old one, where they'll find you, despite having "changed address".

I can't see any way to beat the system through misinformation. If, at the moment, there is no real proof you have the credit card, then all I can think to do is use it and deny any knowledge to the authoroties. I don't kow credit card security systems well enough to outsmart them.

if you say you changed address and they ask for proof this can easily be done using false bank statements.
but i doubt they would ask for that.

if the authorities check the old address, yes they will find me or that person. but how will they put the blame on you.

they have no evidence you were behind the fraud, providing you took the relevent measures for eg never used home computer to apply etc they have no way in proving it was you.

card is not in your name, as you said the person can deny knowledge and they would not be able to do nothing.
