Now if you're going to be bootlegging movies you'll need a decent internet connection and speed (sorry Rachie, dial up users won't have much luck with this :P).
CDs
You'll want to get some DVD+R CDs with a decent amount of storage space on it (4.7 GB are the ones I get). You can get a pack of 50 or so CDs for about £10 here but they don't have any cases. You can buy a few packs of cheap CD sleeves like below to put them in though.
DVD Burner
This is what you use to burn your media to the disks; however most new computers already have one built in. Make sure you get a good one.
External hard drive
I suggest the use one of these because it's good for back up and if you ever get the cops at your door you can easily hide the evidence. This is what you should keep your movies on.
Portable dvd player
Personally I used to just have my customers come to my hideout and have a preview of what the quality of the movie was like; or just take it to their house and play it on theirs. But if you don't want them knowing your hideout or for what ever reason then have a portable dvd player to show them.
Safe or stash box
If you get really big time and have police suspecting you or whatever, then I'd recommend getting a safe for you to stash your burnt disks and your cash. Finding a place to hide the safe is up to you (I hide mine under the floorboards and then screw the nails back in).
Mobile or pager
Obviously for people to get in touch with you so that you can do business.
Printer
You'll need a printer to print off labels and covers for your dvd, to make it look more presentable.
Software you'll need Divx pro and codecs
You need divx pro and the codecs that come with it, so that you can play all types of films (besides kvcd).
Divx converter
You'll need a program called divx xonverter to turn films that aren't already divx format into a divx.
VSO divxtodvd
This is used to turn divx and avi format films into dvd format, and allows the cd to play on all DVD players once burned with it aswell.
Where to get your shit from
Ok well most bootleggers use torrents and warez websites to get what they need, be it music, films or software.
BUT If you're going to bootleg music aswell (never bootleg just music, you won't get many sales) then it's often most people will want compilations, so first get Limewire pro off a torrent or warez website, or you can get basic limewire from w*w.limewire.com and then download limewire pro by searching it in the programs section (make sure it is not below 5000kb otherwise it's most likely a virus).

Alternate way of getting porno
Ok, well you know I'm a big fan of using hypercam to take vids off the internet and then often make gifs out of them afterwards; well we're doing the same here except we're not going to change the movie file into a gif. Instead we make it a divx with divx converter, and then we use divxtodvd to make it dvd format.
This should be used as a last resort if you have searched everywhere and can't find it on warez or torrent sites, or if it's just small clips (30mins) and throw them together.
First you need to sign up to w*w.myfreepaysite.com (which is absolutely free of charge, spyware free etc; and the quality is often quiet good).
Now you signed up and confirmed your membership and bought to this page: w*w.myfreepaysite.com/members/members.html
Then click on any of them if you want the short videos which can be from 5mins-over an hour (depending on which vid you choose).Most of them will let you download the vids onto your comp, simply by right clicking the link and then "save as" to download it; and then all you need to do is drop the video into divx converter and then the converted file into divxtodvd and burn it to disc and bob's your uncle. But the w*w.slave8.flashvideotheater.com/main.php?SESSIONID=500465df0300189646893859001846( full length movie) section (particuarly) will not let you download them.

Now have Hypercam open in a separate window, and then click the movie you want to get and then click what speed you are to watch it, and then pause it and let it buffer 100% and then open the hypercam window and then go to the screen area tab and then click on the "select region" button and then click from the corner of the screen (of the vid) to the diagonal opposite corner, an then click. Now start the vid up and press f2. Hypercam should now be recording the section (which should be the whole vid) you selected, now all you have to do is wait while it records it (you can not go to any other site or what ever while doing this otherwise it will still be recording, but jsut not the vid and will record what ever else you are doing).
Now once it's finished you press f2 to stop the recording; and the recording should be saved in your documents. Now all you do is drop the vid into divx converter and let it convert, and then put the converted (now divx file) into divxtodvd and let it convert and burn to disk.
This as I said is a last resort.
How to get word around
Before you even start getting people know about your business you plan to kick off, you should download some classic films already and films which most people at your school like, aswell as the newer films.
This will atleast be giving you a head start and make things easier for you. You should have a list of the films you have in stock, and then when your business has started to get bigger then you can start taking requests.
Way I do it is see what movies people are talking about and bring it into conversation that you can get it them on dvd for a cheap/reasonable price and they should accept. Word will get around when people will want a new film or w/e that you were the guy they got it off. And if it was quick service and good quality of the film then people should come to you. I'm lucky I got kicked out of school (not for bootlegging) before too many people came to me at school. If your still in school or selling then go out at dinner breaks or to the toilets and sell there; or if you see them on the way to school or they live near the school you can call on them and do the exchange then.
Sell to the people who do want it and tell them about it, but don't go telling random people. Word will get around to come to you for pirated goods, depending on the presentation of the disk and quality of the film
E.G DVDrip quality, CD cover, CD case and covers for the case. Quality helps alot.
It's best to keep it in your own age group of customers IF possible (although I sell to all ages)
It's best to sell to the poor type of families (chavvy) who will not care where they get the film from, or if it's a properly retailed. They are usually the type who will not rat on you either, because they're scum themselves.
Keep downloading those movies, even if people haven't requested them. And store them on your external drive and bun them onto discs ASAP and keep them in your safe until needed, same with your cash. Making the product sellable What quality means
Well when you're searching warez and torrents for movies you may get tags or sayings in the title such as "CAM", "TS" or "DVDrip". Well I'll tell you what each of these mean.
CAM
Basically some guy sat in the cinema, with his cam pointed at the screen recording the film while trying his best not to get caught.
CAMs are often fuzzy quality/loss of colouring on the film and have noise interference aswell as visual, from other watchers of the film. Do not download these!
A tip for you bootleggers who record their shit and upload, then a tip is that the movies are usually in the cinemas a day or so before the actual release date (well they are over here anyway). Do not try to record in a cinema on the premier of the film, or even the last day it's in the cinema; but atleast 3 weeks after it's been out and in the middle of the week when it's not as busy. But really, don't bother the quality is shit for everyone and it's not worth the risk.
TS
A telesync is a tiny bit better than a CAM, but not a hell of alot better at all. You just don't get as much noise because they're often filmed in empty cinemas by bent workers in the projection box (Ironically I start work at a cinema on Tuesday
, just for some extra cash). Although there's no interruptions the sound can sometimes be shittier than a CAM.
DVDrip
A DVD rip is the final release of illegal movie downloads, it is straight from the DVD that has been released by the movie company yet sometimes these are released a little earlier than when they officially come out, DVD rips can also contain the special features that come with the actual DVD.
They sometimes get leaked out really early though; an example being 300.
Ok well no one wants to watch a shitty version of a film, be it porno or what ever; which has some guy get up in the middle of view of the film just to go to toilet. You should look for DVDrips and .avi in the format or title of what you're downloading. For films I can recommend you search aXXo on torrentspy. All of his torrents are DVDrip quality and are without a doubt sellable and watchable.
Everyone likes colour and pictures instead of just boring writing. So get yourself a front/back cover and a cd label for the film you're selling.

It just makes the product look more authentic and nicer.
Add an extra 25 pence or 50 onto the price for adding a cover and label for the product.
Sealing the deal
Ok say you get a call from someone or someone asks you to have a film ready for them by tomorrow or in a few days, then tell them you'll get it and then get it.
Now before they go to school or what ever, when ever they are free drop by their house or at a meet place (or if you were like me and had a hideout then have them come round there). And most people often bear in mind it's a copy anyway, so for customer service you can take screenshots of the film, or a photo on your camera phone or whatever cam you have and show that them as proof of the quality before buying and that it works, so you can have no complaints.
Or you can pop it in their DVD or your portable dvd player and let them preview 5 mins of the film so they can see the quality for themselves.
Bottlegging and piracy has recently been compared to drug dealing; so if someone wants to set up a deal to buy off you and calls you up then you will talk as if you're just coming round to watch a movie or return some "tools" or whatever you want. Just don't mention the words "copy".
I would keep selling inside your school to a minimum, and under stairwells if you must in school.
I prefer house calls on the way to somewhere or in a local parks restroom. I never sold on school premises, because that risk wasn't worth it. But I got my word around at school and I sold to my own age group and mostly the lower class ghetto boys, when I was first starting up my business.
Out the back of your car is not a bad idea either, bearing in mind that it's off school site and out of public. I've heard of people getting away with selling at car boot sales but personally I prefer to just do it the way I said earlier.
Prices
Well I live in the UK and people can get pirated movies easily so the prices have to be reasonably low and have decent cases with the covers and what not.
I sell new one's for £3-3.50 +30p if I decide to add on a cover and a CD label.
But those prices are only because of how easy it is to get them over here.
Bear in mind also that the more customers you have, th more you can charge. Depending on what type of people you're selling to (if they're rough and would kick your ass or just laugh at your prices and never come to you)
For porno I sell £5.20 +30p for a cover and a CD label. I rip the little horny kids off though and sell it them for £10 (whatever the quality is). But you will not want to rip off the older than 12 year olds otherwise you could tarnish your business's good name.
One last thing
It's only illegal if you get caught, it's a quick, easy and usually working way of getting money (depending on if you're stupid or not), so go for it.
