The "ghost" is called a "watermark".
That's why I've recommended printing $5s (from 25% rag) and $10s (when using a blanked bill). I used a 20 for the pictures because that 20 was the only bill I had in decent condition when I did the tests.
Checkers go by two things:
How the bill feels and how the bill looks. If the colors are obviously wrong, they'll check further (looking for watermarks and such). If the bill feels wrong they'll check further (looking for watermarks and such).
My local sherrif's department offered a class on checking bills for counterfeights, which I attended some time ago. When I was working in retail, I was the store's counterfeight checker - if people thought they had a counterfeight bill they called me to come check it. Long story short, I know what checkers are looking for.
Tipz:
If you're printing from wiki, I can't help you. You're going to need to change the size of the image to 2.625" x 6" beyond that I can't really help you.

Well, I don't use any drugs stronger than Claritan-D and most of the people I would buy things from in cash are smart enough to check the bills before they take them.
You can buy an item, then return it - gets you real cash back.
You can just plain buy things - little bits of change but mostly just getting the stuff.
You can use them to buy supplies for further production.
One rule to live by is not to spend more than one counterfeight bill at a time. As our head of security use to say, "If you're spending one, you didn't know it - if you're spending two, you're a counterfeighter."
