Rep Power: 1 | | Lanolin... Most art supply stores, craft stores, or commercial paint suppliers should have it. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I went to several stores today and no one had any idea what I was talking about. Could someone please tell me how to explain exactly what I'm looking for. Is it a spray |

Rep Power: 1 | | NO!! It comes in a can, like turpentine or denatured alcohol...try a commercial paint store or maybe Home Depot. I'm sure you can locate someplace that has it by searching online too... |

Rep Power: 0 | | Thanks alot. I went to Walmart earlier and they didn't know what I was talking about, I probably didnot explain it correctly. One last question and I'm off to to Target, once I get the lanolin how what do I do to coat the paper to stop the pen from bleeding |

Rep Power: 1 | | You need to ask the guy that posted this thread, his methods are WAY more advanced than anything I've ever tried...I used to spray my fake bills with that matte finish artists spray (it's like a clear coat) which basically seals the paper so that the detector pen never really touches the paper. Any store clerk with half a brain would notice that the pen ink just beads up on the bill...I wasn't passing them at stores though, I was burning stupid drug dealers!! ha ha ha |

Rep Power: 0 | | I saw that stuff at the art store and started to get it. Did it give the bill a crisp feel and did it pass the pen test |

Rep Power: 1 | | Don't waste your money...yes, it does "crisp" the bill up a bit, but it gives it more of a "rough" feel than a real bill has. I wish I could tell you what the lanolin does or how to apply it, but I've never even tried the stuff the original post author was talking about...my fake bills were "crude" at best. I was just washing $5 bills with high grade oven cleaner and then re-printing them on a high quality inkjet.

Rep Power: 1 | | Ok, first of what you're going to want to do is apply the lanolin with a spounge, you may need to sqeegee off excess as you want the paper to be saturated but just a little damp. You may also have to spray it if you notice any blurring of your ink.
Depending on how pure it is you may want to "water it down" a bit by mixing with alcohol. This is the exact same chemical the fed has been using for, well for at least 12 years. Now, you're going to have to play around with the consistency of the lanolin depending on the paper you happen to be using, but I usually stick with about 50/50 alcohol. You can use other oil solvents for this, I've had pretty good results withc pure acetone but it has to be colourless though I've had the best results with alcohol, I havn't tried all the different oil solvents out there. I try to make my instructions as "colour by numbers" as possible, but you're still goingto have to play arround a bit

How thick does the paper have to have to be when your laminating 2 peices of it together? And would you say that using the paper yeilds a better product than this flash paper route your talking about? Im debating what route i want to try out
found this. lol Alibaba Manufacturer Directory - Suppliers, Manufacturers, Exporters & Importers

Rep Power: 1 | | PurpleCheeser: US notes are .0043 inches thick and weigh 1 gram (2.61 inches wide and 6.14 inches long) You're going to want to use a paper that's about 4 mils thick, or one sheet of 11.5lb and 1 sheet of 10lb weight paper. This should give you a laminated bill that is about .0042-.00425 inches thick when you laminate two together. Or you could also use two sheets of 11.5 which would leave you with .0044-.0045 which would go down in thickness to about .0043 after laminating if you use something to compress it (like a weight) while damp, which would leave you also, within .00005 or better of the actual thickness. From here as long as you're using a fiberous paper with simillar look and feel once treated with lanolin you can commence.
For Everyone: Security threads are pretty useless as you can very easily (as I said before) be reproduced by simply making a template with the security threads by themselves. (Scan a bill> find the threads in photoshop> add a transparent layer> redraw a thread or two at a pixel size matching the threads> change trasparency of part or all of the threads to get a realistic look> remove the backround scan of the bill> merge visible> ctrl A, ctrl C> ctrl V onto a template the size of the sheet you are printing> ctrl S, ctrl P)
As for lanolin you can go to: hxxp://www.soapgoods.com/Lanolin-p-683.html?gclid=CPSmnu-s8ZwCFYZM5Qod2mQNtA
this page also has a good ammount of info about the stuff.
