Default Need some expert advice on watermark

Doc, or can anyone else would know how to create watermark that only shows when viewed against direct light?

I know that watermarks are created when paper is made but is ther any post-production process I can employ to emulate watermark embedded in the paper?

I am a certified idiot & I just can't think of of ways to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've never TRIED this myself, but someone told me that if you create a "stamp" of the image, and then stamp the finished bill with some type of "oily" substance, then dry that oil with low heat, it creates a passable watermark. I've never done it, just heard someone else say that it's passable. If it works, let me know....

well, i need to get this done fast so i've called half-dozen printshop suppliers today and i've gotten similar advice except i am going with waterbased transparent ink.

i am going with water-based ink because I need to apply color on top of the watermark and the oil base may prevent inkjet ink from sufficiently covering the paper.

I will post how my result once i get it done.

thanks for your quick reply.

you can always try semi transparent ink printed first, then print over it with a more opaque ink. Not examtlya watermark but passable. You can also get a metal stamp plate made of the mark (maybe use a home etch kit?) dampen the paper then make a damp impression and let the paper dry. Othe than that the best way is to laminate 2 sheets of half weight paper as I describe in my counterfeit thread

thanks Doc. i want to try all of these methods eventually & see what gives me the best result.

Some advices on this forum is like treasure trove for counterfeitors. You can't get better advice anywhere else on the internet. I am so scared that bombshock may disappear w/o any notice one day. Somebody should put all the info on bombshock and create pdf documents so that information here don't get lost.
