Reliable Source of Media?
Is there such a thing? (I'm looking forward for Dizzie's response).
It seems every fact you hear from any source of media is changed somehow in some secrete way. Is there a media group out there (local or national) that gives you a reliable source of information among current events. I myself listen to Glen Beck a lot. Seems quite a bit secure on the information to me, but it's been sketchy (really sketchy) at times.

I don't know of a reliable source of media. You just need to look at multiple different sources and see where they are similar and see where they are different and make a conclusion based uppn what you have read/seen/heard.
By the way, Glenn Beck is a complete and total douchebag.

You got to have an enemy to fight. And when you have an enemy to fight, then you can unite the entire world behind you, and you seize power. That was Hitler's plan. His enemy: the Jew. Al Gore's enemy, the U.N.'s enemy: global warming. Then you get the scientists -- eugenics. You get the scientists -- global warming. Then you have to discredit the scientists who say, 'That's not right.' And you must silence all dissenting voices. That's what Hitler did

An ironic post, given the theme of the thread.
Don't get me wrong, I think the second wuote was very badly worded. I understand what he's trying to say though, and it isn't far from the truth. He decided to air his views in the strongest possible words. I think he overshot the mark. Although so does he, it seems, as he went on to clarify his statement.

Beck also writes: "God bless you, Hollywood, for speaking out. But what you have to understand is that if you find yourself in the minority opinion, it's not because of some vast, right-wing or left-wing conspiracy. It's because you're out of step with everybody else. You're not going to be rounded up in the middle of the night and taken to jail...That doesn't happen in America".

Your first quote, however, is taken so far out of context that it's bordering on deceit. Which should have been obvious, given you only quoted three words. In full;

He went on to say, "If we withdraw from Iraq right now, it will be our country's biggest moral scar since Vietnam." He claimed that one reason some Democrats were trying to add a timetable to withdraw from Iraq was to "throw a bone to some of your anti-war base and say, "Hey, look, we were just -- we're just like you, you know, liberal hippie communists. We tried, but the president is a big, bad man and he won't let us." He said, "It is immoral for us to do what we're doing right now, to abandon these people and let them get slaughtered after we started it. If we did that now, this would be America's most shameful act of immorality since slavery."

It seems jrly has inadvertently given us a lesson in media spin.

The liberal hippie communist part I thought was just funny, I din't even read the context, so sorry about that. And I also understand about the Hitler/Nazi thing, but whenever someone says so-and-so is a Nazi it just pisses me off. It is kind of ironic that he goes and calls Gore a Nazi, or whatever, and says that he and the UN are using scare tactics but then he goes and does the same thing.
Kind of off topic but I still think it was worthwhile.
And my spin was completely inadvertent.

Books are the closest you can get to reliable.
I recommend: "Confessions of an economic hit man", and "Overthrow".
Both of those will give you information about past and present events.
The atrocities done by presidents and leaders of the U.S. revealed in these books will make your blood boil.

Documentaries are a great form of media if you are interested in a specific toopic. although, many times documentaries are slanted in one direction or another there are many such as deat house which is about a death row chaplin or taxi to the dark side which is about soldier brutality in iraq along with many others which are highly informative and although they are slanted they are better than much news that you can obtain through print or TV. i've just recently learned about many of these i'm currently at the ACLU national confrence in D.C. and they've aired many of these documentaries and they've all been quite inforamtive. i'm not a member, but, they have a lot of great speakers. they are getting cheif few justices to speak this year.

Right Wing
I personally enjoy listening to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. They may have absurd ideas in general but overall they are extremely intelligent and have gained the respect of a shitload of listeners. They tell you like it is, tough shit if you dont like it kinda deal but i like it.
And yes they do tend to lean to the right (conservative, republican) most of the time but they aren't scared to admit that the left wing (democrats, liberals) has done good things and has good ideas now and again. They also aren't afraid to say that yes, the right wing fucks up sometimes.
Just listen to them for a little while and if you have common sense and a decent set of values (preferably christian) then you will more than likely enjoy it.

If I try to listen to their shit, I either burst out laughing or just get so irritated but the majority of the baselessness of their speels. But I am not suprised that someone with a confederate flag as their avatar would enjoy listening to such ignorant bullshit.

Wow
I am suprised that a person with your standing on this website is allowed to be such a bastard. I am talking directly to you Jrly.
My post offended no one nor did I intend to. And then a ranking member such as yourself comes along and trashes it and rudely comments my opinion and avatar.
Your Goddamn right its a Confederate flag. It should be flying on the whitehouse in my opinion. You won't change that.
If i was an asshole then i apologize.

I wasn't trying to insult you, well I guess I was a little, but I would like to know why you think that confederate flag should be at the white house-go here since it is off topic
