This arguement is best had by people a little older then this board's demographic. When I was 14, I wasn't responsible enough to have sex. I thought I was, though. I thought I was the fucking bee's-knees altogether. I know better now.

Most 16 year olds, especially girls, are a hormonal mess. Hell, a lot of 18 year old girls are like that, and I know a few who have done things they regret. As luck would have it, no one got pregnant but that's not to say they were right. The age of consent probably wouldn't have made a difference to any of these circumstances, it nonetheless sets down a marker. A point of reference. Maybe pushing it as far back as the public will allow is a bad idea.


Anyway, I'd like to hear people's opinion on larger age differences. Right now an age of consent of 16 is winning the vote. Does that make it alright for a 16 year old girl and a 40 year old man to have sex?

My parents would most definitely buy me condoms.
That's just my parents, they would rather be safe then sorry.
There's not alot they can do to actually stop me from doing anything.
So the best they can do is teach and prepare.

My girlfriend or well ex (Dumped her a week ago) is on the pill and she is 15. It's for medical reasons, so I just happened to pick the right girl.

I believe the consent age should be 18.
If you are mature enough to vote, you should be mature enough to have sex. That's assuming the person is mature enough.
I like 18 because that's the age where you really start to decide how you want your life to be. Unfortunately alot of teens choose poorly, which is why I think the age should even be as high as 25. Once your 25 your no longer a teen, you've probably cut down on partying and drinking and you starting to put your future into perspective. The problem with 25 is your old enough to drink and vote so you should of been old enough to have sex a while ago. Also by 25 you would have all ready chosen to have sex or not. I'm really not sure the right age. Maybe we could get rid of age and think more towards education, the day you get your official diploma would be a nice day to be legal. Then again what about all the people who never graduate?

To sum this up I think the government made a good decision and 18 is the best solution.

Ok then like i said before it depends where you live on how this subject effects you.
If you live in a "brady bunch" neighbor hood your gonna pretty muh think that parents arent gonna buy there kids protection or the pill. If you live in a "ghetto" neighbor hood your gonna think that most kids your age can make the decision to have sex. A kid at my schoole had to clean out his locker and they fouind condoms in there, so they had everyone clean there lockers out 6 girls had "the pill" pills in their lockers, and 18 guys had condoms found in there lockers {myself included}, we all had to go see a councilor. And they gave us this talk about how you need to be responsible about sex and stuff. They gave us all are stuff back after and told us if where gonna have sex have "safe" sex, in any preppy kinda school the kids would have been expelled.

I disagree. The moment you try to inhibit or control teenagers the more they want to know what the big deal is. If they are under 18 I say just keep them incredibly well informed. If murder was as mysterious as sex seems to be to the average virgin we would have pubescents bustin' as many caps as nuts. I think initially, the majority of the responsibility falls in the parents hands. Unfortunately most parents don't want to touch the subject, nor do they want their childrens education system involved with enlightening students. This a catch 22. If you don't tell them whats up they find out the hard :lol: way. If you do let them in on the overestimated experience you may feel like your opening the floodgates(no pun intended...ok pun intended). STDs, pregnancy, abortion, and knowing when to say no are important issues to cover whether your child intends to do or not to do...the do.

As far as statutory rape and pedophelia are concerned, I will always do more than question the mental capacity and stablility of any of those nasty asses(sick fucks). Besides, if your level of intelligents and social interaction is so low that your willing to cope with the idiocy of a teenager, you should be institutionalized. Thats the bottom line.
