Synchronium is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Richard Dawkins Is My Hero

Everything he says makes complete sense to me as a rational, evidence-based scientist.

I have literally NO idea how anyone could listen to what he has to say and disagree, unless they just don't *get* what he's trying to get across.

So far I've read:
The Selfish Gene
Climbing Mount Improbable
The God Delusion

So far I've seen:
BBC Horizon - The Blind Watchmaker (how fucking short are his shorts?! - If I ever form a Richard Dawkins cult (oh, the irony), those will be regulation uniform)
The Root Of All Evil
The Enemies of Reason

The first of his christmas lectures from 1991 - Growing Up In The Universe

I look forward to receiving Unweaving The Rainbow and The Blind Watchmaker when this postal strike is over.

Does anyone have any comments on anything he's done? Want to know what anything in particular is about? Let's get some inteligent discussion going.

(And for the record, I'm probably a lot happier without a god to fear, with no afterlife)

Synchronium, we seem to be perfect for one another, in a debating sense. Lol. Perhaps you should try John Hick's "The Fifth Dimension: An Exploration of the Spiritual Realm." I know it may not sound like something in which you would be interested, but Hick does make some very interesting points, and I believe you could use a mind-opening read. No I am not a religious fanatic. I am simply interested in all points of view, in order to better understand what it is that I am arguing. I will, therefore, do some research on this "hero" of yours, and if you do decide to look up John Hick, keep in mind that so far everything I have read of his has been exactly to the point of what I myself believe. I suppose that he is my "hero." Lol. Until next time.

Allow me to clarify something very quickly. I was not specific enough when I said that I believe everything that Hick does. I meant, more to the point, that his book "The Fifth Dimension" seems to hit on every spiritual point I myself believe. That religion is irrelevant, because there is one Ultimate Real, no matter what you call it. That the human race is linked through a system I myself refer to as a "psychic spider web" (cheesy, yes, but paints a very clear picture of what I mean). He makes many other points with which I strongly agree. In fact, I have yet to come across anything in this book with which I disagree. I am still searching, though. This is a book that I read over and over again, underlining and highlighting the more crucial statements. I am not a Christian, nor do I belong to any other modern religion with a specific set of rules and beliefs. I am a Pagan, and follow the laws of karma as I see them. I am, however, very open to the beliefs of others, and believe in the Ultimate Real, as I mentioned earlier. This Real is the same, whether you call it God, Buddha, Isis, or Allah. I simply identify better with the persona of the "goddess" Isis.
