Rep Power: 0 | | my ideas Video games, tv, movies, they can all desensitize you, not to make you a violent person, but to accept violence and other ideas. |

But what exactly is the connection? Do the games raise aggression through violent thoughts, violent feelings (hostility), or simply through heightened arousal?
ScienceDaily (Nov. 29, 2006) — A new study has found that adolescents who play violent video games may exhibit lingering effects on brain function, including increased activity in the region of the brain that governs emotional arousal and decreased activity in the brain's executive function, which is associated with control, focus and concentration. The findings were presented today at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). |

The same people who complained about games and their evil nature were the same people who said rock and roll was the devils music.
Just a bunch of nonsense. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Although there's no doubt videogames get one thinking about what occurs in them. If I never played any videogames, I would have never thought about a lot of violent things.
But just because I think about them doesn't mean I am not mentally stable enough to not actually carry their actions out. I believe the majority of the population is like minded. Although in very rare occurrences, it may be observed some people did actually carry them out.
It shows that generalized ratings, such as those done by the ESRB, are not set in stone rules. One 17 year old could be years away from the stability and maturity of another. |

Rep Power: 23 | | In viewing the effects of videogames on society then your own personal ability to not run amok after playing GTA is irrelevant.
We all seem to agree that video games desensitise people to violence (at least, those of us inteligent enough to understand big world like "desensitise"). In wider society, doesn't this mean an increase in video-game related violence inevitable? The only other possibility is that there is some balancing force in video games that decreases violence. |
